The Atomic Bomb

US scientists in collaboration with European savants, produce the atomic bomb, the most destructive weapon in the history of the world. Quantities of uranium shipped from Alberta, Canada are used in the secret bomb because of the mineral's atomic structure. As Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japanese port cities, feel the full destructive force of the lethal weapon, some of the startling details of its production are revealed.

Russia Declares War On Japan

At the insistence of the United States and Britain, Russia declares war on Japan. Russia's armed might is displayed in a stirring parade.

The War In The Pacific

The Allied offensive in the Pacific has been moving steadily forward. The Philippines have been won back, along with a score of other islands. The Japanese resort to desperate measures, the use of kamikazes, suicide planes, and take a heavy toll of American ships. On Easter Sunday, the Allies open assault on Okinawa, only 400 miles from Japan, landing U.S. Marines on the island.

Atomic Bomb Ends War

Japan asks for peace, following the use of the atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Formal surrender is signed aboard the U.S.S. Missouri in Tokyo Bay on September.
