STORY Lord Gort arrives back in London signalling that the evacuation of the BEF from Flanders is nearly completed. The epic withdrawal was carried out courageously by the many small vessels bringing British and French troops from the beaches. SHOWS Planes fly over Dunkirk and everywhere fires rage. A convoy passing through the Straits of Dover comes under fire from the French coast. The Navy protected the ships at sea and Hurricanes repelling the aerial attack.
