Lord Gort arrives back in London signalling that the evacuation of the BEF from Flanders is nearly completed. The epic withdrawal was carried out courageously by the many small vessels bringing British and French troops from the beaches.

The Houses of Parliament were one of the casualties in London's May 10th Blitz. Westminster Abbey also suffered in the conflagration. The RAF did magnificent work in destroying at least thirty-nine Nazi bombers.
