Around a dozen family members of missing or retrieved Sewol ferry disaster victims came down to Jindo, the closest port to the sunken site, on Tuesday, two days ahead of the first anniversary of the tragedy in which more than 300 people had died.

The ferry - carrying 476 people, mostly secondary school students from Danwon High School - sank on 16 April 2014.

A total of 295 bodies have been recovered.

Nine others remain missing.

Officials have blamed negligence by crew members, excessive cargo and improper storage for the sinking, along with slow rescue efforts.
