It has been designed with the European markets in mind, and - if it goes into production - would sit in Toyota's range beneath its RAV4 SUV.
Didier Leroy, Toyota Europe's president and CEO sees the hybrid sector as one of the Japanese car sectors key areas of development, but is not ruling out other forms of alternative-fuel power.
"We do not believe there is only one ultimate technology because in the future the best way of powering a car will really depend on customer use," he says.
Globally, Toyota's hybrid production has now reached seven million units - led by its popular Prius model, with over three million sales worldwide.
Karl Schlicht, executive vice president of Toyota Europe says: "Hybrid equals Toyota and Toyota equals hybrid."
13,000 journalists will visit Mondiale de l'Automobile which runs until October 19 and features over 260 brands from 18 different countries.
Lamborghini, Ferrari and Jaguar are all expected to launch new models in Paris.
