3. SOUNDBITE (English) Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester:
"We have obviously very big numbers from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, Greater Manchester police stepped in last night and have been magnificent in the support they provided. We are preparing a request for military support, that doesn't mean to say we need it at this moment in time. We are keeping that situation under review. So, if the point comes while we do think, actually, we need extra bodies here to kind of contribute to the effort to beat the fire back, then we know we can press the button on that particular request. We haven't done so at this moment in time. But, the necessary preparations are being made should we need to."

5. SOUNDBITE (English) Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester:
"That's what's great about this country isn't it, in situations like this, everybody rallies round. I mean all the firefighters have been saying that they've been offered so much from local supermarkets, local people, coming out, making them cups of tea. So, the community has been brilliant. Thanks to everybody here for supporting our emergency responders. So, yeah everyone has rallied round and in typical fashion and, you know, it's an intrusion for this community. We all understand that. But you know I think they understand why we're here in numbers."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Dave Keelan, Greater Manchester Fire Service:
"We haven't seen an incident like this on the moors in Greater Manchester as long as I can remember. It's extremely challenging, not just dealing with a moor on fire like this. Dealing with it with the wind direction, the heat and the terrain, getting firefighters to the places where the fires are and looking after their welfare. You know, when you're in fire kit it is extremely hot. You can see the firefighters probably stood behind me on camera. The gear they've got to protect them in a fire and keep them safe and when there's fire going round your legs, you need that protection. But they do get extremely hot. So, we've got to look after their welfare, make sure they're well hydrated and they get plenty of rest."
