2. CU of Billy Bob's tattoo of Angelina, SOT Billy Bob - on organising schedule to see more of Angelina - "We made a deal that after we finish what we are doing now which is around June 18th." SOT Interviewer - "She has Tomb Raider coming." SOT Billy Bob Thornton - "She's got that coming out and then I start another movie on Wednesday but it's a short schedule that I finish on June 18th. After that we are going to take off all summer and then we are going to trade, like she will go with me on my next movie and I will go with her on her next movie and we will do it that way."
3. SOT Angelina - on ex-husband being proud of her in her role playing Lara Croft - "I'm actually hoping to do good by England, that is the thing that I am most worried about, the thing that I am going to be most proud of and make my ex-husband proud I think."
4. MS Jonny Lee Miller
5. SOT John Voight - "She and I are alike in that we love the performers, so many performers, we fall in love with their work, we just say this is great and that person is great."
6. SOT Angelina Jolie - on working with father - "It was really fun to be able to do a film and show him the set and to be with the same family in the movie, so it's Croft Manor and the desk I sat at is her father's desk and so it was great to show each other those things and just to do the scene was a very personal scene and we get to say some things that a lot of people would like to say to their parents or hear from their parents. To hear that their parents are proud of them or support them and also we have all lost people where we wish we could get time back. It's a theme that we could all identify with."
7. MS Angelina at Golden Globes
8. SOT Question - "Does it ever trip you out that you get so much attention for your beauty?" SOT Angelina - "Oh yeah, I'm a big dork, to be honest and people that really know me, find it just as funny."
9. SOT Angelina - on wanting to be more like her character - "I think to be honest when I see myself in Cambodia so tanned and healthy standing on the edge of that waterfall I wish I could be that side of myself and In that moment all the time because you see yourself happy."
(306997)
10. Sot Angelina Jolie - "I loved the bungee, any time I did the bungee or when I jumped off the balcony, I think it's something that we all want to do. You stand on the ledge and think I could just, so it was great to jump off and .... it's just such a fraying thing to do. In Cambodia when we were canoeing and standing on the edge of a waterfall, I got to do things in life that I didn't think I had the ability to do, it was so freeing."

17. B-roll Angelina Jolie
18. SOT ANGELINA JOLIE (on playing a strong woman) - "It's fun to be a woman and do this sort of stuff, but I've seen women for years being very strong. Sometimes it's a mother, but it is no surprise that a woman can be tough. That was not my intention, doing this to prove a woman can do it, it was actually... I just never thought we couldn't."
19. SOT JON VOIGHT (on Anglina looking intimidating) - "She is quite intimidating isn't she. I have a little of that stuff in me too, I like that stuff. She's really quite expert."
20. SOT BILLY BOB THORNTON (joking that Angelina's tough) - "Even now and then she kicks my ass." SOT Question - "How hard did she kick it?" SOT BILLY BOB - "Pretty hard."

1. SOT Angelina Jolie - "I think it says a lot about life and love and what we want and what are secrets and desires and I think also beyond that it is a sexy film. It's also a mystery and a thriller and so it's fun to watch but beneath all of that it is about something. It's about different things for different people."
2.SOT Angelina Jolie - "We knew it would be beautifully shot and tastefully done and we felt safe to be ... to do it and be free. There was nothing really personal going on."

New York, 25 Apr 2002
1. SOT Angelina Jolie: "I like the essence of the story and I like what it says at the end of the day. Part of it was probably because she offends me and I just find her so horrible and she's everything that I can't stand in a person, who she is in the majority of the film. She's so lost that she's, so she's horrible to me and sad and kind of funny and it was something I'd just never done before and never tried and I didn't think I could do it and that's always a good reason to try something."
2. SOT Angelina Jolie: "I was very nervous, I'm still very nervous. I'll be happy when people go to see it and are OK with it, then I'll be happy when someone comes up to me on the street and says they liked it but yeah I'll be nervous because it's weird. I saw part of it and just thought 'aghh, what am I doing?' - the singing, I just saw part of that and said' Can't you just cut it? No-one wants to see that, just cut that much shorter.'"
3. SOT Angelina Jolie: "I do live kind of that way all the time and I always have, or as far as I can remember always have so no, I might do a little bit more of everything but I do the same."

Trying to improve the different projects that we are working on and we are trying to ask all the people that we meet in the field, the people that we meet in different projects, what they need and try and be a voice for them. US Jolie as Goodwill ambassador launches World Refugee Day
APTN
Washington DC - 20 June 2003
1. SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelina Jolie, Actor & UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador:
"How we relax in safety and security of our own homes knowing that people are out there somewhere forced to leave theirs. That somewhere right now they are sleeping in the dirt with their children unable to find food and shelter. So this day should be the beginning of all of us deciding we should do more to help others everyday. So thank you for being here and thank you for letting me be here and happy World Refugee Day."
2. SOUNDBITE: (English) Angelina Jolie, Actor & UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador:
"Refugees are families, they are individuals just like us. But they don't have the freedoms we have. They have lost their basic human rights. Before I met these families I did not realize how much I took for granted. I didn't know what it feels like to be hungry. I don't know what it is like not to have food for my child, or to watch my mother or brother beaten to death. I can't imagine. I don't know what that feels like, but I know we have to do what we can to help those people who have no choice."

1. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:
"Going into the second one we changed her, I think if people see the second film they'll see that she's grown up in some way and sexier in a different way, and she's more of a woman, so I like her better now, and I feel more comfortable as her. I think the first one I was still slightly uncomfortable, it felt like putting on a character, and now it feels natural, which is weird."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:
"I found that when I'm her for nine months I tend to get on the phone for people, and my mum often said 'You do realise you have a British accent, don't you?' so I consciously make sure I lose it when I leave the film but I do start to talk a bit funny."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:
"I think it was much possible because for one this character, I think you have to back it - if you're gonna play her you should be able to do as much as you can but I also like to do them and I love to be challenged, and I like a bit of danger."
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:
"I thought it was important that we introduced what she loved and what she cared about and I think it was important to force her to make strong decisions in this one and see what she's really made of, I love that things have returned to the tribal people's of the world because I think there's a beautiful statement in that."

(It's unusual for a woman to be an action hero in a traditionally male dominated role isn't it ??) "I've never underestimated women, I see women as strong, I always have, so it felt just natural for a woman to do something like this. I don't think she is an extraordinary woman. I think SHE IS woman"

Travelling the world I think is the most important thing a person can do to understand other countries and cultures. More than anything, I think people need to do more of that"

Entertainment: Jolie: Hollywood star talks candidly about love, life and charity
APTN
London, UK - 18 Aug 2003
1. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on similarities between her and Lara Croft:
"We both love to travel. I think she has a crazy sense of adventure and she loves other countries and other cultures and she's a bit fearless and wild and nuts and I think I have a bit of that. And she'd fight to the death for something she believed in or someone she cared about and I would too."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on how she got into her charity work via the first Tomb Raider film:
"Going to a country that is riddled with landmines and has been through war and you start to...when you become aware of the world you become aware of how much needs to be done or how much people are going through so you naturally do then start to want to do something to help."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on whether she has the same taste in men as Lara Croft:
"Me personally? I'm not dating. Period." (Q: "Would it be a character, do you like the rough and ready?") "I think I like the adventure of, I like a man of action and a man of adventure and fight, but I probably would have the same problems with that type of man that she does, with where he stands and what he actually believes in."

1. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on how sequel differs from first film:
"I think the first one was more of a fantasy and to be honest with you, we were establishing so much and we didn't have as good of a grasp on what exactly these films are and I think we've really figured her out more on this one and it's a really solid action adventure that has a plot and themes and solid characters and she doesn't always win easy and yeah, I just think that it's a better film."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on new Tomb Raider game:
"No I haven't seen the new game. I think the game is wonderful - I just don't play them. I don't play computer games. I'm not good at them. I'm fortunate that I get to jump inside them and mess around and get dirty."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on her stunts:
"It's a pretty great job when you get all these teachers from around the world and these rigs and things, it's like joining the circus and you get to do these amazing things you'd never get to do in life. So I'm taking full advantage of that. (Q: Where there any accidents?) I did have a few accidents, yeah. I'm missing a piece of my right elbow (laughs) which I'm sure, I'll be sixty years old and annoyed about the Tomb Raider set of films (laughs). (Q: So how did that happen? What happened?) I'm not allowed to say because then I can't do that stunt any more for insurance, so I'm keeping that quiet."

"I am very emotional and I'm probably going to cry right now, so I apologize ahead of time. I wanted to just learn a few years ago and I had learned so much about the UN and I had read so many amazing things that some of the people in this room, the things that you write, and I felt unintelligent and not a part of that world, and I wanted so much to be allowed to learn. And when... I read a lot, and when I eventually called you in UNHCR because I couldn't believe that that many people could be displaced, and I wanted to know what that meant and how that could happen, they, even though it was a crazy strange actress they kind of said alright we will let you see. I didn't want to get in the way and I met these amazing people and I was suddenly in an environment where journalists, and war photographers, and field officers are all working together to help other people. I had never seen that before in my life. And I was really just so inspired and so humbled that they let me just be there. That's how I feel tonight, so I'm really just happy. I'm so emotional. I'm just so happy to be part of the UN and to be a part of this family that are doing good to just help other people. That is what their focus is at the end of the day. And this award, being named after Sergio who I never got the chance to meet but people, kept telling me a few years ago 'oh you have to meet this guy', he is the most, you're going to love him, he is the most amazing person, everybody just can't say enough good things about him. I was so excited to meet him and I never will but every time I look at this I'm going to be reminded of him. "I like verbal people, I like playing verbal people, people that are good with how they speak, it amuses me and it's an element that I bring to a lot of different parts that I play. This movie was fun because it's been a while since I have done any.. whilst this is a dark romance, there is a romance to this movie and I really enjoy acting with women."

"Mad (Jolie's son Maddox) tends to - every time he watches an animated movie - he picks somebody out as Maddox and somebody out as Mama, anyway. So usually I am...in 'The Lion King', I'm Mufasa, which is good...in 'The Jungle Book', I'm Shere Khan, which is a little frightening because I don't know. So clearly, all the loud scary father-like figures - that's me (laughs). Isn't that strange? I don't know what psychology...but it says something but yeah, it'd be interesting to watch him see something that actually has Mummy's voice. He'll probably say I'm the De Niro character."
(Q: And how much fun is it to do this whole thing?)
"Oh , it's so much fun. For just anybody. To see somebody draw you as a shark or as a fish...it was just hysterical to see anyway. But then to do it and to be with everybody and get into this world of the whole fish world and talking to the other actors, it's just great to play because God, in this business, we tend to take ourselves so seriously. We do all these films and there's always reviews of this or that or 'What did it mean?' and this, it's just got a lovely message, it's just fun."

I mean I'm having difficulty now, my son's Cambodian and I have to find a place to send him to school where they're going to teach him what really happened in Vietnam, what really happened in Cambodia and who Pol-pot was and I don't know if there's a school that I can find that's going to share with him his proper culture. So I think we have to start with our children first and make sure that we're raising really responsible children and to become responsible adults."

NOTE TO CLIENTS: To gain interview access, Associated Press Television News was required to sign agreements with representatives of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie stating that no personal questions would be asked of the actors.***
1. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:
(Q: The paparazzi were all over the making of this movie - was it distracting?)
"Only because of my son, only like making sure that he was safely getting to set to hang out or safety getting to school or you know things like that are the bigger concern, or could I take him to the nearby park or was it a bad day for press and paparazzi or things like that. That's the only time it bothers you because you're you know but other than that no, you just, you know (shrugs)."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - with a different take on the origins of the film:
"I think what happened, strangely enough, is that we read the script and it had some action in it and really it was a relationship comedy and then I think Brad and I, being two people that love action and the stunt coordinator knowing him from 'Troy' and me from 'Tomb Raider' , the action scenes suddenly went from three days to three weeks and everything got more competitive and bigger and bigger and bigger, so it turned more into an action movie."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on training for the dance sequence with Pitt:
"There was a few days rehearsal and it was just funny because you know, we can do stunt practice or gun training for days but brought to a dance class was kind of like 'Oh God, it's that day. It's dance class'. But it ended up being very fun and especially because of all the weapons and the story in between it but yeah it was funny."
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie - on doing her own stunt work in the film's so-called "leap" sequence:
"It's not scary actually. I think I'm afraid of certain things, well I'm not really afraid of but I don't like being under water, I love heights. I love heights, so it was kind of a dream come true for me. I loved doing that stunt."
5. SOUNDBITE (english) Angelina Jolie:
"Um, I think (laughs) no. During the film, there was always the joke about the sequel and it was always like, 'We'll be back for the sequel!' but I can't imagine what that would be."

7. SOUNDBITE (English) Jolie, on working with Brad Pitt:
"He's actually, he's a great actor and I think I underestimated. He's a really great actor and he's very focused and dedicated and works hard on the script and (crowd cheering) causes a crowd but he's great, he's amazing."

9. SOUNDBITE (English) Jolie, on why she feels America should to more to combat world hunger:
"so there is the money to give and it's only 0.7 of our GGP, you know what I mean? We can afford to do it. We can afford to do a lot more than we're doing and every other country, you know all of Europe has come up to the 0.7, some are going to 0.9 and we're at 0.15. We may give the most cash as America but when it comes to percentage of what we have, we give the absolute least and that is embarrassing as a wealthy country. So we should absolutely step up."
10. SOUNDBITE (English) Jolie, on what she'd say to George W. Bush:
"I would tell him a lot of things. But I mean really, at the end of the day, I would ask him to really think hard about his children's future and the kind of life he's leaving for his grandchildren one day and to separate himself from all the other stuff that he's done and to start to think about himself as the legacy he's going to leave and that he could be a part of ending poverty and we really can do it and we can afford tot do it now and it's a shame and it's a disgrace if we don't and I don't think anybody should want to leave that legacy to their children. Forget your presidency, just that."

She's so lost that she's, so she's horrible to me and sad and kind of funny and it was something I'd just never done before and never tried and I didn't think I could do it and that's always a good reason to try something."

I don't know what it is like not to have food for my child, or to watch my mother or brother beaten to death. I can't imagine. I think the first one I was still slightly uncomfortable, it felt like putting on a character, and now it feels natural, which is weird."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:

Period." (Q: "Would it be a character, do you like the rough and ready?") So I'm taking full advantage of that. (Q: Where there any accidents?) I did have a few accidents, yeah. "I mean I think because you're all stuck together in this one thing where it's just you guys together, so it is fun, we laughed a lot and you're also pretending, it's like you're in a room and you're not just talking, it's bing very big and everything is, look over there, we laughed a lot and found it very silly but we knew we were part of something, we had to trust the director and we had to just commit to it and trust that it would turn out good and I think it's nice to do that every once in a while, not to just do films that you know are going to be what they are and they'll be popular and safer. This one we had no idea, we had to try something, which is so important to do I think."

It's nice to be the woman who doesn't have to worry about that because you're a mother and you wear long dresses and you get wrinkles. You can just be and the boys are getting their legs perfect and shaving. It was like, oh good. That's your problem. I'm going to go be old and sit in a corner."
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:

But I think, also, we're both actors and we took it really seriously, and I focused on everything about me that's seen death and feels old and is mom and feels drained and disappointed by life. 2. SOUNDBITE (English) Colin Farrell - on Angelina Jolie:
"I say this I feel like I've known her a lot longer than I do, and a lot more than I should, considering the amount of time that I spent with her. And on that note yeah it was cool, a piece of cake, a walk in the park to play her son, we're also very close age-wise and it was fine. I mean she's such an incredible f**king actor that she really just sold it, she was brilliant."

"There has been a wonderful response by people. I've been living in England, so the response of the English people overnight was extraordinary and I think that people have pushed their governments to do even more which is wonderful. What I'm really concerned about and I'm going to be watching and speaking to people about is the coming months, I think right now it's really in the news and money keeps coming in and I'm hoping that it's distributed properly and I'm hoping that everyone on the ground is...because the chaos over there. I think that in the months to come I'll be looking into different people who will be starting to do programmes of building back the communities. What are we going to do with the housing, what are we going to do with the schools for the kids? Because we have to spend the next few years rebuilding these places and investing and stay focused."

Another thing that was discussed was that everybody feels that forced repatriation is not humane and not something that should be done."

***INTERVIEW WITH ANGELINA JOLIE MUST ONLY BE USED WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF A STORY ON THE FILM 'MR AND MRS SMITH'

"I think it is. It's one of those films, it's what a lot of films...it's what we try to make in this business, something that is entertaining and has a little bit of a message but really you just go with anybody and you can laugh and it's thrilling, it has all those elements that you hope to put in a movie."
