"Sindbad park is not just childhood memories. It's also remembering the flying carpet ride, the colliding carts. It was the best thing you could imagine as a kid. It is the best smallest amusement park in Egypt. It makes you leave the place very happy as you relive the best moments of your life."

The ticket prices are cheap and not expensive. Regarding re-locating the park in another area, I assume that these are just rumours. I would prefer it stays in its original location so we can all continue to gather here."

Egypt's "oldest" amusement park is shutting its doors to the public.
But managers at "Sindbad" amusement park are telling visitors not to worry - because the closure is part of a grand expansion programme that will eventually see the park double in size.
Worming its way around the track.
This roller coaster is a firm favourite with regular visitors to the Sindbad amusement park.
Launched in the summer of 1986, in Heliopolis, on the northern outskirts of Cairo, the park was the first of its kind in the city.
Buying-up a number of rides - many of which were unique at the time - was a strong pull for visitors curious to see what the next purchase would bring.
Today, old favourites like the monorail, flying carpet and ghost train sit along side new, more thrill-seeking rides like the "Tagada."
But challenges from larger and more modern theme parks have left numbers visiting the park dwindling.
Still, loyal fans keep coming back to Sindbad.
"Sindbad park is not just childhood memories. It's also a remembering of the flying carpet ride, the colliding carts. It was the best thing you could imagine as a kid. It is the best smallest amusement park in Egypt. It makes you leave the place very happy as you relive the best moments of your life," explains Mohamed Elshafey.
Another park visitor, Mohamed Elgohary, who has just taken a ride on "Tagada," agrees.
"I've visited Sindbad park since I was a small child. I used to hang out here with my friends," he says.
And it helps that Sindband keeps it's prices low, says Elgohary.
Rumours have been swirling for some time that Sindband might be closing its doors.
But Elgohary thinks there's nothing to it.
"Regarding re-locating the park in another area, I assume that these are just rumours. I would prefer it stays in its original location so we can all continue to gather here."
The news is true, says Ahmed Abdel Aziz, the park's general manager.
He says Sindbad has to close its doors after the land on which it sits was sold.
But it's not all bad news.
"We are going to expand and re-locate to another area. We will be opening lots of branches," says Abdel Aziz.
"We already have lots of rides, that could open two to three parks, in our warehouse. And we will be expanding in the upcoming period very soon."
He says the new location will be double the size of the current Sindbad park - at around 12-15,000 square metres - to accommodate all the rides currently sitting in storage.
The park's management say entrance fees will stay the same, five Egyptian pounds (0.70 US cents) for entrance to the park and for every ride.
Sayed Omar, the Maintenance Manager at the Park, will be one of team carrying out the move.
He says it will take from "three to four months" to disconnect the rides and reassemble them.
