Raging bushfires near Port Macquarie in New South Wales turned the sky red on Friday, November 8, as seen in this video, posted to Facebook by Margo Bennett, a local resident. The New South Wales Rural Fire Service said that 96 fires were burning across the state at 5.30 pm on Friday, 57 of which were uncontained. Several bushfires were reported near to Port Macquarie. Several evacuation centers were set up to deal with evacuees, according to the New South Wales Police.
