Malaysia's Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Saturday that the disappearance of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has been a test for his country's relationship with China, but added that he is grateful for the support of the Chinese government.

Razak, who was at the end of a 6-day tour to China, was speaking at an event in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

"We will not rest until the plane is found," Razak said during his speech.

Flight MH370 disappeared en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on 8 March with 239 passengers on board, 154 of them Chinese.

Not a single piece of the missing Boeing 777 has been found in one of aviation's most baffling mysteries.

"China is willing to work together with Malaysia to drive the China-Malaysia relationship into the next 40 years, with maturity and steady, mutual benefit and mutual trust, prosperity and progress," said China's Prime Minister Li Keqiang during the celebration on Saturday.

Beijing has tried to placate Chinese relatives of missing passengers by pressing their case with Malaysia while trying to avoid damage to relations with an important trading partner.
