An elderly giant panda is spending its remaining years in comfort in the Foping wild survival training center in northwest China's Shaanxi Province.
The 22-year-old panda, named "Pingping," that is equivalent to over 80 years old for a man, is able to move agilely.
The panda was saved by He Yidong's grandfather who found a two-month-old panda cub lying in front of his house 22 years ago, said He Yidong, the breeder, adding that the panda was obviously abandoned by its mother.
Due to food shortage, He's grandfather fed the cub with milk in his grandson's feeding-bottle. For better survival conditions, the panda was transferred to the rare wildlife rescue and breeding research center in Shaanxi province in 1993, then to the Qingling giant panda's wild survival training center this year.
Currently, the scale of wild survival training center is now under expansion. The reconstructed center is expected to accommodate 45 pandas after its completion, which will cover an area of 420 hectares, according to reports.
The center is planned to provide systematic trainings for pandas, preparing for the release of the artificially fed or capacitive giant pandas to the nature.
