We're learning that reigning Tour de France champion Alberto Contador (kahn-ta-door) tested positive for a banned substance during the July race.
The Spaniard is admitting as such but at a press conference Thursday he blamed the results on contaminated meat.

He also made clear that what was found in two samples taken from him were miniscule amounts.

The U-C-I, which is cycling's governing body has provisionally suspended the three-time Tour winner.
However it's not clear if Contador will be stripped of the yellow jersey.
The drug in question has anabolic properties that build muscle while burning fat.
Contador insists he must have ingested it when he ate some meat on the day in question and he says the U-C-I backs him on that.
Contador is the cycling's biggest star now that Lance Armstrong has retired and this positive test for Contador as well as others continue to discredit the sport worldwide.
