A look at the romance of Prince William and Kate Middleton

On Thursday Prince William, second in line to the British throne, showed his romance with girlfriend Kate Middleton is stronger than ever by kissing her in public for the first time in a Swiss resort, the pictures of which were splashed across leading UK tabloids.

"William and Kate met in their first week of University because they were both at St Andrews studying history of art, but at that time Kate was going out with someone else, in fact (was just) a friend of Williams, and it wasn't until their second year of the four year course that William became really close to Kate because he shared a house with her and three other friends of his and they shared a really pretty Georgian town house in the centre of St Andrews. But it still was about a year later before the national press logged onto that fact that she was an item with him and not with anyone else. "

"Well they had a wonderful time because they really were protected, I mean obviously there is a lot of local paparazzi, but they really were protected. And then they moved out of the town into a little farm house, so they were living together which is quite unheard of really for a future king to be living openly with his girlfriend. So they had a wonderful time, they had four years of a really good time. But of course when they both left, or came down as you called it, last summer, they slightly went their separate ways because William had things to do, places to go, and so did she. And now that things have settled a bit they are seeing a great deal of each other because they are both in London . "

12. SOUNDBITE (English) Ingrid Seward, Editor, Majesty Magazine:
"They are not living together. Kate has a flat in the King's Road. William has his apartment at Clarence House, but they can see each other all the time, and of course the problem that Kate has now is that she is followed everywhere by paparazzi. Kate has to decide if she is prepared to go on with this relationship, because her life will never be her own now, or if she really can't hack it, because she is not going to get married tomorrow, and who knows what will happen. She is starting up a children clothing company which of course most people that leave university wouldn't think fop starting their own company immediately, but because of her association with William's people are clamouring to get a bit of her. So she is a bright girl and she is taking advantage of that, and she might make a very big success of it."

I think it is something they simply don't do. The only parents that ever really integrated in were Mark Phillips' parents and the Queen got on very well with his mother, but otherwise they take you over. "

"We don't know what deep psychological scars he has from the unhappiness of his parent's marriage, maybe he finds it very difficult to commit, some 23 years olds that's it isn't it, they get married and that's a forever thing. I just don't know, I think for William, I should think he is not very keen to get married, because he has got a lot of living to do first, he has got to take the risk that he may never find anyone as wonderful as Kate, so that is what he has got to weight up, 'do I risk not finding somebody as wonderful' but when you are young everything is just so golden and if it is not right it won't happen."

In terms of Brad, Brad is a person I have always liked, I've always felt close to Brad as an actor, of course I share a lot of things with him, but I have always liked this fellow and if this is going to be for them, I'm very very happy for them both. Of course you want something to last and Hollywood is not the ground to have longevity usually. I hope if they intend to be together I hope they take it very seriously and I'm sure they are and that they have a life together. One is always looking for true love. You are always looking for true love and when you find it it's the greatest of god's gifts so I hope that they have it individually and together if it's meant to be and I send them my love."

2. SOUNDBITE (Mandarin) Jet Li:
"Now I am 42 years old, I think my personal life has come to an end. What I mean by 'end' is I don't have any ambition, goal or specific task in my life. I have totally understood fame and its benefit. Actually, life is like a drama where every phase of your life constitutes one episode. Since you have already understood the drama, you'd better let the curtain come down and come to the end. You suffer pain when you have goals. Therefore, I can happily state that 'If I have the chance to pursue what I want in my life, I will try my best to do it; If not, that is also reasonable', like the Chinese saying goes."

1. John Legend, Grammy Winner for:
--Best New Artist
--Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, "Ordinary People"
--Best R&B Album, "Get Lifted", on the meaning of the title new artist
SOUNDBITE:
"Well, no one's a new comer. Anybody that's new is only new to the general public, they always work a lot beforehand to get a record deal, to get an album out, that's a long struggle, and we struggled, it took a while to get noticed, we got turned down by a lot of labels including the one I'm signed to now. So, you know it takes time, that's normal I'm not mad, I don't feel vindictive about it but it's just like you know, that's what it was and it happened at the right time and everything came together at the right time this year in '05 and we won three Grammys."
2. Kelly Clarkson, Grammy Winner for:
--Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, "Since U Been Gone",
--Best Pop Vocal Album, "Breakaway" on her unexpected winnings
SOUNDBITE:

So I don't know, I've had a very blessed evening, I've no idea how this happened but I'm happy I'm taking this home so I don't know, I'm just very happy, my big win tonight, I didn't even expect to win, my big win was performing so being able to perform in front of people like Paul McCartney and Bonnie Raitt and Bruce Springsteen and all these people that I admire it was amazing."

And then that's how you describe it, no matter how many you get, you know people tell you all the time that there's nothing like winning one with each new album because really each new album is like a new child and you know we can all attest to the fact that whenever you have a child it's like something that you give to the world, you give back to the world that's a little bit of you."

Colombian superstar Shakira's new album, 'Oral Fixation, Vol. 2' is released in the UK March 6, 2006.
1 SOUNDBITE (English) Shakira:
"Volume Two', I would say, is one of those albums that involves rock and electronic sounds and that allowed me to explore other possibilities in terms of lyrics. There's a lot of love and romance in this record as well but there is also some of my points of view and my question marks".
"I've always considered myself as some kind of cocktail, you know, because of so many fusions that there is in my family, but also the fact that I've been travelling for so many years, since I was 18, I've been moving around like a nomad, it has shaped my spirit and my personality in a certain way".
"When I write, I write about my own experiences or fantasies of mine, and you don't always fantasise about good things, but also about terrible things and this is all exposed in my songs. Sometimes I regret the things I write because then I have to explain them".
"I think fame doesn't fool me, it doesn't trick me , I know all of her vices and all of her virtues, like an old friend that I've known for a while because since I started a career at such an early age and I developed as a woman and as a person and also as a professional for 14 years.... I think that that has given me enough perspective to know that one day you are here and one day you might not be quite there, so. I don't know, I've quite a simple person, I try to live a simple life even though my life is pretty abnormal, but that is one of the reasons why I live in the Bahamas, because I like to go to the supermarket in my Pjs (pyjamas), I like to stay close to my family. I enjoy simple things".
"When I have the chance I just enjoy scratching my belly and sitting in a rocking chair, staring at the nothingness. It's such a creative space as well, having some time for you mind to unwind, that is when the best ideas happen, not in the middle of the photo session".
"Some day I would like to study, go to university maybe, and not do a full career but, you know, maybe take some courses on certain subjects that I am interested in. I don't know, there is so much more to life than only music".

"In about three weeks time these baby seals are due to be clubbed to death or shot in what is known as the seal hunt. For many years people have been trying to have this brutal practise stopped but we are out here to see if we can lend our voice to this campaign and maybe get it stopped once and for all."
4. CA Heather McCartney
5. SOUNDBITE Paul McCartney:
"You will hear that the reason why the seal hunt has to go on is that the seals eat the cod and therefore deplete the supplies of cod in the area, therefore ruining the fishermen's living, but in actual fact that isn't true. It's over fishing that has lead to the demise of the cod and these harp seals actually eat some of the predators of the cod so they are part of a very delicate eco-balance."
6. MS Paul and Heather
7. SOUNDBITE Paul McCartney:
"The Canadian people have been polled and asked what they think of the seal hunt and the majority of the Canadian people are opposed to it so it's not their fault. It's just an old tradition that has gone on for a long time and it's time it stopped."

"Oh no, oh no, just I hope I don't have to say anything, it's just really hard for me; one of the hardest things about this movie was talking in front of a large group of people or singing in front of a large group of people because the film making experience for me has always been more intimate, it's never been more than 15 people watching your performance, and they're all busy doing more important things like lighting the set, so for me this was just a great accomplishment, learning to stand by myself, I'm proud of myself. It's different for me."

And the great challenge of this was going to be somehow portraying the vast knowledge and intelligence that Robert Langdon has without having quite as much verbiage. He has to come in as an authority and carry himself as an authority and somehow balance the distinction between what he knows about history and the editorial position that he knows of the context of that history and that requires a substantial amount of condensation by Akiva Goldsman, our screen writer, who drafted the book, as well as working with Ron and everybody else. I viewed this as any time you're playing a character with vast amounts of knowledge that is off the page that means that you have to do more than just hit the marks and say your lines you have to have a certain amount of carriage and past that you have to bring into the room with you and this is the magnificent thing about being an actor. I'm not a symbologist, but I play one in the movies."

"The subject matter is very special to my heart, as it would be to any woman, and it is an important story that needed to be told. A lot of us weren't aware of the fact that there was a story like Kiranjit's, there was a law that was actually changed or amended in the UK, for a woman who could be tried for a situation like Kiranjit's and she could actually eventually come away, released from a sentence which originally she had been put to life (sentenced to life) imprisonment for ending the life of her husband circumstantially, who was abusing her for the longest period. So on the ground of provocation she actually eventually managed to come away, released, back to her children and eventually get felicitated by the wife of the Prime Minister of the country. That is a huge journey for a woman and the story needed to be told, not just of that one Kiranjit Ahluwalia but for various and many Kiranjits who exist in society, so it was an important story for me."

--Best Pop Vocal Album, "Breakaway" on her unexpected winnings
SOUNDBITE:
"I don't know, I didn't know it was his first performance, that's odd, you'd think that someone that talented would have been on the show a lot.
3. Linkin Park, Grammy Winner for:
--Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, "Numb/Encore"
SOUNDBITE:
"I mean performing Numb/Encore, being nominated for this award, we thought it would be really amazing to try to tie all those things together, and we did, I mean Sir Paul McCartney was gracious enough to be really into the idea and be supportive and we pulled it off and we won the Grammy and we played with Paul McCartney and it's pretty much been the most kick-ass day I think any of us have ever had."
4. Ciara, Grammy Winner for:
--Best Short Form Music Video for "Lose Control" Missy Elliott featuring Ciara and Phat Man Scoop
on how blessed she feels to win with her first album
SOUNDBITE:
"You know what, this is truly an honour for me, this is my first time in the Grammy awards, first album for me, first time being nominated, and just to think about everything that I was nominated for this year I feel so blessed, so thankful, I mean it's like it's exciting, it's motivating at the same time, like I'm so ready so go finish recording I'm so ready to put out another song, I'm excited so I feel really blessed, absolutely."
5. Yolanda Adams, Grammy Winner for:
--Best Gospel Song "Be Blessed", on the excitement of receiving another Grammy
SOUNDBITE:
"Ok, first question it feels like, yeah! And then that's how you describe it, no matter how many you get, you know people tell you all the time that there's nothing like winning one with each new album because really each new album is like a new child and you know we can all attest to the fact that whenever you have a child it's like something that you give to the world, you give back to the world that's a little bit of you."

3. SOUNDBITE Paul McCartney:

No you know listen, when John Steward who I adore was making pretty funny jokes, you all know this, you hear this every day of your lives how out of touch Hollywood is, and you go, well maybe, but sometimes that's a good thing along the way; no I didn't really work on anything except that there were 4 other actors that probably were going to win."

"it's definitely nice to be part of a moment where fiction is holding a mirror up to contemporary culture and asking questions about what's going on, in the case of Good Night and Good Luck it's a historical piece but it certainly made me think when I watched it, what's changed, in a funny way. Anyway we won't go into that now."

22. SOUNDBITE (English) Reese Witherspoon:

Helen Mirren :
"No the pressure was on me to do the movie, you know to do the film, and to make a film that people with obviously my incredible collaborators, I mean Stephen made the film, and my fellow actors, Peter who wrote it, but to make a film that appeals to people although it is so quintessentially British, to make a film that appeals to people around the world. The extraordinary thing about showing it here is that we have discovered that that is the case, in fact the greatest honour we got today was receiving the International Critics prize and that was extraordinary because that is critics from all over the world so that was an amazing moment."

2. SOUNDBITE: (English) Cyril Wecht, Pathologist:
"It's just an examination and even though it's the second, it's basically the same, although some of the incisions would have been made of course but other than that, it will be an examination of the organs and the tissues and the body as a whole, just as you would do as if it were the first autopsy."
3. Various shots of pathologist going through gates of coroner's building and entering building
Nassau , Bahamas - 17 September 2006
4. SOUNDBITE: (English) Cyril Wecht, Pathologist:
"The cause of death is listed as pending or reserved, those two words being used synonymously and the reason for that is that it is necessary to examine representative sections of all the body tissues and organs under the microscope."

"It's more of a healthy decision that you have to make for yourself. One of the biggest killers of women nowadays is heart disease and I think we all have to pay attention to what we put in our bodies. Nowadays the research is really coming up that we really have to be more conscious of looking at ingredients and what we are putting into things. It is important for me to make healthier choices for myself, it is important to work out. It's about feeling good and you feel better whenever you are doing things to help yourself."
