1. SOUNDBITE (English) Angelina Jolie:
"You know I honestly wouldn't try that for a soundbite, I'm on a red carpet, it's so hard to try to quickly sum that up, I learned quite a lot and I'll be following up with policymakers in Washington to express what I've learned, and hope that in some way the can shed some light on the refugee situation, because that was my focus when I was there and it is a huge problem, and it's 4 million people displaced now and something we absolutely have to address, but I didn't intentionally not talk about it but I just feel like I don't have the right words to put together that situation, I'm still trying to understand so much in my head, I'm speaking to experts and I'm trying to learn more so that I can better learn the situation but I will be speaking in Washington privately about my experiences and what I witnessed."
Reporter Q: "Are you looking forward to seeing the screening tonight?"
"Yeah, I have seen the film and I already like it very much, I think it's wonderful."
Reporter Q: "What do you think of Brad winning the award in Venice?"
"I'm very proud of him."
Reporter Q: "Angelina - is this a love story of a man and his pistol?"
Question goes unanswered, Angelina walks away.
ANGELINA JOLIE TALKS ABOUT HER RECENT VISIT TO IRAQ
Angelina Jolie hit the red carpet with partner Brad Pitt at the Toronto Film Festival last night.
When questioned she told reporters about her recent trip to Iraq as goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, (UNHCR) at the beginning of the month.
The actress told AP she would personally report her experiences in Washington DC soon:
"I learned quite a lot and I'll be following up with policymakers in Washington to express what I've learned, and hope that in some way the can shed some light on the refugee situation, because that was my focus when I was there and it is a huge problem, and it's 4 million people displaced now and something we absolutely have to address," she said.
But the actress admitted to being somewhat astounded by what she saw in Iraq and said she hasn't yet managed to process it all.
"I didn't intentionally not talk about it, but I just feel like I don't have the right words to put together that situation, I'm still trying to understand so much in my head, I'm speaking to experts and I'm trying to learn more so that I can better learn the situation but I will be speaking in Washington privately about my experiences and what I witnessed," Jolie said, before gushing about her partner Brad Pitt's Best Actor win at the Venice Film festival.
"I'm very proud of him," Jolie told AP.
Angelina Jolie and partner Brad Pitt were in town for the premiere of 'The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.'
Jolie witnessed firsthand the plight of war refugees stranded in the blazing desert near the Syrian-Iraqi border and some of those now in Damascus, during a visit earlier this month to highlight their ordeal.
The 32-year-old star also travelled to the al-Waleed refugee camp on the Iraqi side of the border, and spoke to some of the Palestinian refugees stranded there since December, blocked from entering Syria.
The actress also visited US troops in Iraq.
