A scuba diver dressed himself as an 'Easter Bunny' and hid colourful eggs underwater in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary on Friday, in preparation for an annual underwater Easter egg hunt.
Atlantis Dive Shop owner Spencer Slate put on a bunny outfit before his dive, which has become a local tradition. The eggs were hard-boiled and dyed with non-toxic colours to avoid damage to the delicate reef environment. He hid them in the sand along the edge of the reef.
On Easter Sunday, Slate will lead a special tour of the reef, dressed in his rabbit costume. Divers will descend to find the eggs and win prizes. There is a top award for whomever finds a special golden egg.
The underwater hunt will raise money for a not-for-profit trust, Kids in Special Situations, which provides children in need with gifts and support.
