"But it is critical. It is so critical that the past be remembered. It is thrilling and it is fantastic to remember and to celebrate the tearing down, the destruction of the wall. But it is equally important that we remember and honour the decades long struggle that resulted in the collapse of not only the wall but a system of government that was based upon the subjugation and brutalisation of its own citizens. The will and strength of the free people survives and won and for this General Clay would indeed be proud. I thank you for him."
