Thousands of mourners marched through the streets of the West Bank town of Tulkarem on Tuesday in the funeral procession of Raed Karmi, the West Bank militia leader killed in a bomb blast on Monday.
Karmi, 27, was the leader of the Al Aqsa Brigades in Tulkarem, a militia linked to Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's Fatah movement.
The explosion outside his hideout was widely attributed to Israel.
Five thousand mourners and dozens of gunmen firing in the air attended the funeral, calling for revenge for their hero.
The two largest Palestinian factions said Tuesday they would stick to a truce with Israel despite Karmi's death.
However, supporters of the militia leader did take revenge, killing an Israeli soldier and wounding an officer who had left their armored personnel carrier to question two Palestinians at a checkpoint near Tulkarem.
Karmi had boasted of killing two Tel Aviv restaurant owners, while Israel claimed he had killed a total of nine Israelis.
In September Karmi survived a missile attack on his car.
