SCRIPTING INFORMATION:
Palestine are represented by five athletes in three disciplines at the London Olympics: swimming, athletics and judo.
Judoka Maher Abu Rmeileh was the last of the five Palestinian athletes to be notified of his participation at the Olympics.
The difference between Abu Rmeileh and the other four Palestinian representatives, is he qualified for the Olympics after defeating several judo champions throughout the past four years.
Abu Rmeileh's victories gained him 20 points which raised the total of Palestinian points total to 24 and so he qualified to take part in 73-kilogramme category.
The 28-year-old, who lives and trains in Jerusalem, Israel, started judo when he was seven.
His father was also a judoka.
Palestine first participated in the Olympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta in the United States.
Runner Majed Abu Maraheel, who is currently training the 2012 runners, was the first athlete to carry the Palestinian flag at an Olympic event.
Since then, Palestine's symbolic participation in the Olympics has continued.
But Abu Rmeileh is the only Palestinian to qualify for the Olympics on merit.
The International Olympic Committee have rules exempting developing nations from having reached the qualifying standard - that is how the other four Palestinian athletes qualified.
