"We register it as Russian Guinness Book of Records and we know for sure that no ice-cream bar of such a length has ever been made anywhere in the world and we hope that London will accept it properly and we will get in the Guinness Book of World Records".

A team of Russian ice cream aficionados built what is believed to be the world''s longest ice cream at the Moscow Exhibition Centre on Saturday.
At 240 metres (787 feet) long it was a tempting sight for many of the children who were eventually rewarded for their patience with free ice cream handouts.
An official from the Russian Guinness Book of Records confirmed it set a new Russian record and said he hoped London would except it as a world record too.
The bar was laid out along the parapet of the once record-holding fountain known to every Russian as the Fountain of the Peoples'' Friendship where 15 gilded statues of girls in national costumes symbolised the eternal friendship of the 15 Soviet republics.
For the occasion, the water was switched off and impatient audience waited for the main event - the creation of a sweet record.
Russians are famous for their love of ice-cream and are quite content to eat the chilly confectionary in freezing temperatures.
