"In order to be successful, we don't want a strong team in our group, we remember the World Cup in Brazil, we didn't have a strong opponent team but even for our team it was a disaster. Residents of Moscow were excited for the 2018 FIFA World Cup draw taking place in the Russian capital later on Friday evening.

Valeria Lavrenko, a resident of Rostov visiting Moscow, said she's looking forward to the World Cup "because they have built a stadium in our city."

She said she would support Russia but would also like to see Spain in the final match.

Meanwhile, Ivan Novikov is anxious that Russia doesn't go up against too strong a team.

"We remember the world cup in Brazil we didn't have a strong opponent team but even for our team it was a disaster," he said.

Officials from the 32 World Cup teams have gathered in Moscow to find out who will play who at next year's tournament in Russia.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to appear at the draw ceremony, which will take place at the State Kremlin Palace.
