BOLLYWOOD STARS KICK OFF IIFA IN MADRID
Bollywood extravaganza descended on Madrid.
The 17th edition of the IIFA Awards brought an array of Bollywood A-listers who attended the first part of the ceremony on Friday (24 June 2016) night in the Spanish capital.
Indian stars converged on the red carpet to honor the technical categories of the awards.
One of the hosts of the evening Manish Paul said he cannot pick a favorite among the nominees.
"I think all are my favourites. It's a family, you can't choose one," he said.
Perennial baddie Gulshan Grover wasn't nominated in the Performance in a Negative Role category but he made an appearance to cheer for the other on-screen villains.
"I feel it requires a very good actor to play the part of a villain, the part of a bad man because your screen time is less and your deeds are very predictable."
Actor and martial artists Tiger Shroff broke out some of his signature dance moves for the cameras, while actor Boman Irani said to the press his suit was tailored without him even being present in the room.
Meanwhile actress Freida Pinto said that there's a definite awareness in Hollywood of the Indian talent on the market.
"I definitely think they have, they are definitely waking up, but I don't think it is "they are waking up now" I think everybody was always privy of how much talent there was in India," she said.
Whereas American actress Nargis Fakhri admitted she got a lot of jobs in Bollywood based on her work in comedy "Spy."
The International Indian Film Academy Awards has been giving out trophies to its brightest stars in cities across the globe. Previous host cities for the IIFAs included Kuala Lumpur, Tampa Bay, Macau, Singapore, Toronto, Dubai and London.
The gala will resume Saturday night when the creative awards will be given in 13 categories.
