3. SOUNDBITE (Turkish) Vasip Sahin, Istanbul's governor:

"Today, at around 0840 (local time, 0640 GMT), a car bomb targeted a vehicle carrying riot police in the Vezneciler district. As a result, seven police and four of our citizens lost their lives. May they rest in peace. Thirty-six people were wounded."

"There are no injured left at the scene. They were all taken to the hospital as soon as it happened. Our chief prosecutor, along with a team, is continuing a judicial review."

Tuesday's car bomb attack targeting a bus carrying riot police in Istanbul killed 11 people and wounded 36 others, according to the city's governor.

Speaking at the scene of the blast in the district of Beyazit, Istanbul Governor Vasip Sahin said the dead included seven police officers and four civilians.

At least three of the wounded were in serious condition.
