GADSBY, LONSDALE, LEE AMONG AUSSIES HONORED IN HOLLYWOOD AT AUSTRALIANS IN FILM AWARDS
Comic-actress Hanna Gadsby, "Love, Simon" actor Keiynan Lonsdale and veteran film editor Lee Smith -- Aussies all -- were among honorees in Hollywood at the annual Australians in Film Awards Wednesday (24 OCT. 2018.)
The annual benefit event celebrates the achievements of Australian-born entertainment professionals who have made their marks outside their homeland.
The Australians in Film organization provides career-development programs and has established a creative workspace, Charlie's, which is located in Hollywood.
Former White House intern Monica Lewinsky was among attendees. She and Bill Clinton had what the former U.S. president called an "inappropriate relationship" in 1995-96, which soon erupted into scandal.
In 2017, Lewinsky tweeted #MeToo, later explaining in Vanity Fair that although her relationship with Clinton was consensual, she felt position constituted an "abuse of power."
