Mourners on Sunday paid their respects at a makeshift memorial to George Floyd, a black man killed earlier this week in Minneapolis.
People laid flowers and messages at the growing shrine at the Minneapolis intersection where Floyd died Monday after an arresting officer pushed his knee into Floyd’s neck while he was on the ground handcuffed.
After police dispersed the crowd on Saturday night with tear gas, many said it was important to come back and protect what they called a “sacred space.”
The intersection was blocked with the traffic cones while a ring of flowers was laid out.
Protesters, angry over the death of Floyd in Minneapolis on Monday, have been demonstrating across US cities all week.
