(Sen. Hatch): "No, No that's an important position and he's very qualified for it. And there's no reason to hold that up."
(Reporters question): There's no reason if the president is under a cloud that should be -- his nominee shouldn't be considered to be under a cloud as well?
(Sen. Hatch): "Not when we know the nominee as well as we know Mr. Kavanaugh."
Democratic lawmakers began a barrage against President Donald Trump and Brett Kavanaugh on Wednesday, citing the president as a " co-conspirator and his nominee as tainted because of the president's legal woes.
Sen Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Wednesday, "we should be pushing to postpone the Kavanaugh hearing. This nomination is now tainted with illegality."
Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii) canceled her Thursday meeting with Kavanaugh, citing the president's alleged legal troubles.
She accused Trump of being "an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal matter" and suggested he "does not deserve the courtesy of a meeting with his nominee—purposely selected to protect, as we say in Hawaii, his own okole."
Okole translates to the "buttocks" or "backside."
Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah said Wednesday, that the hearings for Kavanaugh's confirmation should not be delayed and the presidents nominee is very qualified.
