In California, the home of the Beach Boys, everyone and everything is supposed to surf.
So it seems only natural that the latest surfer to take to the waves is man's best friend.
An overcast sky and choppy surf is enough to dampen the spirits of even the keenest of surfers.
Not for `CJ', the seven-month-old golden retriever. He's a regular on the beaches of San Diego, and is only too keen to hit the water in search of a wave.
With a little bit of help from his owner, CJ can hold his own with the best of California's surfers.
A quick push and he's off.
Even dogs need a break from the water, and CJ willingly accepts the offer to get the sand out from behind his ears.
His owner is impressed with the way he's taken to the sport.
"He's a pretty good surfer compared to all the guys out there. On a scale of one to seven he's probably about a seven. But he's not doing any of the radical new moves yet but he's got time to learn."
SUPERCAPTION: Matt Jackson, owner of CJ.
After a quick rest, it's back into the water again for a perfect `Hang-16'.
However, not even CJ gets it right everytime - his `wipe-outs' rate with the best.
Out of the water at the end of a hard day's surfing, CJ is only too happy to celebrate with a `high-four'.
