Palestinians flocked to see the FIFA 2018 World Cup trophy at the weekend (17th/18th February) as it continued its promotional tour before this summer's tournament in Russia.

SCRIPTING INFORMATION:

The FIFA 2018 World Cup trophy landed in Ramallah on Saturday (17th February) as part of its ongoing world tour.

Fans were able to see the famous gold-plated hand and ball which will be awarded to the winner in Russia in July.

Palestine, which was officially recognised by FIFA in 1998, has yet to qualify for the World Cup, but that did not stop fans queuing up to view the iconic trophy.

The nation's first major title was the 2014 AFC Challenge Cup, and Palestine have also qualified for the 2019 Asian Cup.

The trophy's world tour kicked off in Russia in September 2017 and will take in more than 50 countries across six continents before it concludes in the Russian city of Vladivostok on 1st May.
