Israeli soldiers have shot dead at least four Hezbollah guerillas in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli military says the dead men were trying to infiltrate an Israeli held enclave on Sunday night.
An Israeli military convoy returned from Lebanon in the early hours of Monday morning after killing the guerillas in a gun battle.
Israeli soldiers repacked their kit and cleaned their weapons after the confrontation in the central section of Israel's self-declared security zone.
The Israeli army confirmed the account of the exchange given by the Israeli-backed South Lebanon Army militia.
No Israeli casualties were reported.
Hezbollah, Iran's main Shiite Muslim ally in Lebanon, is leading a guerilla war to get Israel out of the enclave.
According to Israeli military officials Hezbollah has recently stepped up attacks.
It's believed the guerillas were trying to infiltrate the enclave from the village of Zawtar, 500 yards away.
Israel carved out the border enclave in 1985 to guard against guerilla attacks across its northern border.
