"(Journalist: Any comment, Michael?) Looking forward -- I'm looking forward to trying this case very much. Very much. I can't wait for the truth and the facts to come out. We're gonna have a jury of 12 people determine whether I should be convicted or not, and I'm highly confident in the outcome."
Journalist: "Are you surprised it's going forward?"
Avenatti: "Well, I'm surprised that -- Am I surprised that it's going forward? Considering that we're now living in Russia? No, I'm not surprised that I've been targeted by Donald Trump and his minions. Not at all."
Journalist: "What do you think about the possible impeachment?"
Avenatti: "Oh, I think this guy should have been removed from office a long time ago. I think he's a disgrace to the United State, I think he has upended our justice system. He's targeting his political enemies and anybody that doesn't believe that is a fool, so..."
Journalist: "What's next for you?"
Avenatti: "We're going to continue to prepare. In each of these cases, we're going to do what we need to do. I'm going to continue to represent my clients as I've done for nearly 20 years, and I'm looking forward to trying these cases and being vindicated."
Attorney Michael Avenatti says he's highly confident that he will be vindicated on charges he cheated porn star Stormy Daniels out of $300,000 that was owed to her through a Manhattan-based book deal.
Avenatti made the comments Tuesday as he exited New York federal court, where he attended a hearing in connection with the charges.
"We're gonna have a jury of 12 people determine whether I should be convicted or not, and I'm highly confident in the outcome," he told reporters outside of court.
Avenatti then added he believes he's being targeted by President Donald Trump.
Avenatti has pleaded not guilty to charges that he cheated Daniels.
Separately, Avenatti also has denied charges in Manhattan that he tried to extort Nike for $25 million and charges in Los Angeles that he defrauded clients of millions of dollars.
