"We're adding 393 new individuals on one-third of all CalFire engines. We're gonna get a fourth member on these CalFire crew. I think that's gonna help morale. It's gonna help with rotation. It's certainly gonna help with women and manpower as it relates to suppression efforts and mitigation efforts."

"At this moment, it's a 26 ½ million dollar commitment. But it is necessary as we're getting closer to peak fire season. We're walking right into the peak part of our fire season. We're not getting the benefit of these snowmelts anymore that have helped slow the fire season. For people who think, boy, things are going well, don't hold your breath. This thing is delayed, it's not denied. The new realities of the hots getting hotter, the drys getting dryer, the wets getting wetter. It's what happened last year. That's the world we're living in."
