1. SOUNDBITE (English) Patrick Hope, Virginia State Delegate:
"A woman in the United States is sexually assaulted every 98 seconds. As the father of three young girls I cannot stand by silently while the Lt. Governor (Justin Fairfax) is facing multiple, credible allegations of sexual assault. I believe these women. He needs to resign immediately. Should the Lt. Governor fail to do so, on Monday I intend to introduce articles of impeachment on Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax. Article four, section 17 of the Constitution of Virginia says very clearly that impeachment shall be for a high crime or misdemeanor. There is no question that violent sexual assault clearly qualifies as a high crime. Due to the lateness of the session, in order to introduce any new resolutions, the House of delegates will have to grant me unanimous consent. I would hope that no member would stand in the way of this process getting under way. My hope, my sincere hope is that this will not be necessary and the Lt. Governor will heed the calls of many to resign this weekend. If he does not, we will move forward on Monday."
