1. Medium shot director Alfonso Cuaron speaking to reporter
2. SOUNDBITE (English) Alfonso Cuaron, director:
"Well, I think is, it was, it's coming late, very late in the, in, in, I mean, I would say decades late. Nevertheless, it is here. Definitely, I think, it's, it's a genuine impulse that corresponds to a specific historical situation that this country is going through. There is a need to really embrace what is perceived as 'the other.' But, by the same token, I think the interesting thing it's not only a diversity of characters and stories. It's only a diversity in the ways that we do films."
3. SOUNDBITE (English) Peter Farrelly, director:
"This is one reason I don't love the awards, because, like, two of my favorite movies of the year aren't nominated. They're female directors. It's Chloe Zhao, you know, for... She did 'The Rider.' And, and I'm blanking on the other one (Nadine Labaki), who did 'Capernaum.' And I love that there are these great women directors out there and, and, you know, it's a diversity that's growing and it's better and it's good for everybody. I don't know why it's happening, but it's long overdue and I'm thrilled that it is."
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios president:
"You look at 'Black Panther,' in front of and behind the camera, and you see a tremendous amount of representation and a tremendous amount of inclusion. The fact that that ends up being the biggest film we ever had in North America, the third-biggest film in history in North America, tells you something. It tells you that if you get people who don't always have that opportunity, bring them to the table and the results can be amazing. So that's a lesson not lost on us. And it will continue happening on more and more of our films."
5. SOUNDBITE (English) Kenya Barris, producer:
"This cannot be 'a moment.' Moments go away. This has to be a movement. This cannot be a fad. This cannot, you know, if, this is not, we've worked too hard -- and I say you and me and the people who sort of have really been on the grind and really being out about who we are and what matters and what the world is. This cannot be something that is an overcorrection, that find people will re-correct back to what was."
