The Chicago White Sox are among the first Major League Baseball teams to extend protective netting at their ballpark.
Video supplied by the team Wednesday shows crews working to extend the netting from near the dugouts to the foul poles in the left and right field corners of Guaranteed Rate Field.
The White Sox were the first big league team to announce it would take the step following a couple of high-profile injuries that increased the focus on fan safety at ballparks.
A handful of other teams have announced similar moves.
A woman was injured by a foul ball off the bat of White Sox slugger Eloy Jiménez in Chicago on June 10.
MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said at the All-Star Game this week that extending the protective netting down the foul lines is a ballpark-to-ballpark decision because of differing configurations.
The White Sox next home game is July 22 against the Miami Marlins.
