Shoppers in New York City braved the cold on Black Friday in search of good deals ahead of the holiday season.
Traditionally, Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, but with six fewer days this year, it will be the shortest season since 2013 because Thanksgiving fell on the fourth Thursday in November.
It was mixed messages from shoppers like Terri Rickert and Babatunde Lewis.
Rickert told the Associated Press she was thrilled with the deals she got, and while Lewis also did well, he was hoping to find steeper deals as it gets closer to Christmas.
Black Friday is expected to once again be the largest shopping day of the season, followed by the last Saturday before Christmas.
