Tom Jones, who was set to perform at the party alongside Mariah Carey, was excited to get up on stage and sing for a good cause.
"It's a very good feeling because you know that it's a great cause that you're making money for going to the right place because that's what that's what to try and get a cure for AIDS. The thing we need is money. And what better way to do it than something like this?"
Andie MacDowell, who was in town as a Loreal spokesperson and who was presenting one of the items to be bid on, a Warhol, said she managed to see only Tarantino's movie at the festival.
"It was great. I loved it. You know my daughter's in it, so I'm going to love it. But I really truly think he's master and movies in a way they're struggling, now and I think it should be a very successful film. And we need that in the business."
Her co-presenter on the evening, Henry Golding was still smarting from the "Game of Thrones" ending. The breakout star of last year's "Crazy Rich Asians" recently wrapped shooting a romantic comedy with "Thrones" actress Emilia Clarke, but he didn't manage to get any info out of her.
"It's an ending, they had to. I mean of course people some people would have been upset. Some people would have loved it. That's how TV works out. And that's how you have to find an ending for a story. And I think they went for the best one possible."
