Both EU and Brexit supporters gathered in front to of the UK Parliament on Tuesday to have their voice heard.

Alan Wager, Research Associate for UK in a Changing Europe, told The Associated Press that the Brexit uncertainty and an increased chance of a no-deal are the two factors that most effect the price of sterling and lower the price of sterling.

In early trading, London's FTSE 100 was off 3 points at 7,258 as the pound fell to its lowest level since 1985, excluding a brief crash it suffered in 2016.

A consultant neurologist David Nicholl criticised that a no-deal Brexit is the biggest risk to the health service in its existence.

Summer recess is over, and Britain's parliament reconvenes on Tuesday to face a momentous decision about whether to intervene to try to prevent a possible "no-deal" exit from the European Union.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has taken steps to suspend parliament during part of the period before the October 31st Brexit deadline, giving legislators little time to try to rush through legislation designed to prevent a disorderly departure.

They face a formidable challenge.

Johnson is also getting tough with members of his Conservative Party who oppose his Brexit plans.

The so-called "rebels", including Phillip Hammond, David Gauke, Rory Stewart and Dominic Grieve, were being warned on Monday they will be suspended from the party if they take part in efforts led by opposition parties in parliament meant to block a departure from the European Union without a deal.

Johnson called a meeting of his cabinet on Monday to develop a response to the opposition-led manoeuvre amid speculation he will call an election soon if he loses the vote in the House of Commons.

Joelle Grogan, a senior lecturer in Constitutional and European Union Law, said for a general election to be called early there must be motion brought by the government and two thirds of the House of Commons must vote in favour of it.

"If Boris Johnson isn't able to secure two thirds of the House of Commons there won't be an early general election," Grogan explained.

But Grogan added that a potential vote of no confidence would begin a two-week period in which either an alternative government will try and be formed or Boris Johnson's government will try and regain confidence of the house.

"If after that two-week period there is no alternative government and there's no confidence found for Boris Johnson's government, then there will be a general election triggered automatically."

Labour Party officials are expected to seek an "emergency debate" so that an extension to the Brexit deadline can be discussed in the House of Commons.

The plan is to introduce binding legislation that, if passed, would force the prime minister to seek an extension to the October 31st deadline even though he has said he is determined to leave the EU on that date regardless of whether there is a deal with the bloc's nations.

The role of House of Commons Speaker John Bercow will be important in determining when and how any debate unfolds.

The speaker plays an impartial role in the British system, although Bercow last week criticized Johnson's decision to suspend Parliament for longer than usual before the Brexit deadline as a "constitutional outrage."

He has been an outspoken advocate for parliament playing an active role in setting Brexit policy.

This is not usually a fast process.

A bill introduced in the House of Commons, the lower chamber of parliament, gets two "readings" - one with a debate - before it goes to a committee stage, during which every clause is discussed and amendments can be made.

It then goes back to the House of Commons for more debate and possibly more amendments, which can be made by any legislator, and then is voted on at the end of a "third reading."

If the bill is supported, it goes to the upper House of Lords for a similar series of phases, with differing rules about when amendments can be offered.

Parliament's website makes clear this process can be very slow, and is subject to filibuster tactics: "All suggested amendments have to be considered, if a member wishes, and members can discuss an issue for as long as they want."

If the Lords have made amendments to the bill, it is then sent back to the Commons for further consideration.

If the Lords haven't made changes, the bill is sent to Queen Elizabeth II for "royal assent" and becomes law.

The queen's approval is seen as a formality and doesn't have to be given in person.

Johnson's backers in parliament can slow the legislative process down with amendments and with filibustering speeches that can go on for hours, in effect "playing out the clock" during the period before Parliament is suspended, which can begin as early as September 9.

Parliament is set to reconvene shortly before the Brexit deadline, but those opposed to a "no-deal" departure say any legislation should be passed this week.

Parliament normally doesn't sit on Fridays or on weekends, but that could be changed given the current time pressure.

The prime minister also has stopped short of formally committing the government to abiding by parliament's wishes if legislation is passed.

Cabinet Minister Michael Gove, who is playing a key role in Brexit preparations, said the government would wait and see what, if any, legislation is passed before deciding its response.

As things stand, Britain will leave the EU on October 31 unless it seeks an extension and the other 27 EU nations approve.

If parliament instructs the government to request an extension but is ignored, it would set off a constitutional clash of major proportions.

A yellow anti-Brexit bus departed from the UK's Palace of Westminster on Friday for a week-long tour ending in Brussels next Thursday, for the start of the European summit on the divorce deal.

The crowd-funded "Bollocks to Brexit" bus will firstly tour the UK, visiting the constituencies of Prime Minister Theresa May and former UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.

As part of the display Friday, protester Drew Galdron impersonated the former foreign secretary, pretending to be arrested while being taken on to the yellow bus.

Johnson was originally behind the well-publicised red Brexit bus that promised an extra 350 million pounds (4.47 million US dollars) a week for the National Health Service.

Britain's chief Brexit minister warned the European Union - and his divided party - on Monday that the country will leave the bloc without a deal rather than accept continued close adherence to its rules and obligations.

Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab told Conservative members at the party's annual conference that if the EU tries to "lock us in via the back door" by keeping Britain in the bloc's single market or customs union, "then we will be left with no choice but to leave without a deal."

Ten days after EU leaders told Prime Minister Theresa May that her proposed divorce terms were unacceptable, Raab accused the bloc of casting "jibes" at Britain and having a "theological approach allows no room for serious compromise."

He said that if the bloc wants a deal, "they need to get serious. And they need to do it now."

Raab's combative stance toward the bloc is not universally shared among Conservatives as Britain's governing party holds its four-day gathering in the central England city of Birmingham.

Many Conservative lawmakers would rather keep close ties with the EU after Britain leaves in March. So would major business groups, who fear barriers to trade and recruiting workers could hammer the UK economy.

Treasury chief Philip Hammond will use his own conference speech on Monday to stress that the Conservatives are the party of business and economic aspiration. It's a sign of how Brexit has upended British politics that the party of free-market former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher needs to make such an assurance.

May, meanwhile, faces the mounting threat of a challenge to her leadership amid deepening opposition to her Brexit plan, which would keep Britain in the EU single market for goods while leaving it free to make its own rules on services.

Advocates of "hard Brexit" argue that make the UK a "vassal" of the EU. They say a clean break with the bloc would let Britain strike new trade deals around the world. Former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, a likely future contender for May's job, has called the prime minister's plan "preposterous" and "deranged."

On May's other flank are ministers such as Hammond, who want to retain close economic bonds with the EU after departure. Hammond on Monday called Johnson's claims about Brexit "fantasy land" and said government required more than "flamboyant statements and big announcements."

May's plan has also been rejected by EU leaders, who say it amounts to "cherry picking" benefits of membership in the bloc without the costs and responsibilities.

May is sticking to her proposal. But with Brexit day - March 29 - less than six months away, chances are rising that the UK could find itself crashing out of the bloc without a deal. The government has acknowledged that could leave planes grounded and trucks backed up at British ports.

Raab warned that any chaos following a "no deal" Brexit would be the bloc's fault.

"Even if we can't secure a comprehensive deal with the EU, I find it hard to believe that they would, for narrow political ends, seek to punish Britain in such a crass and counterproductive way," Raab said.

He said such a move would threaten "European as well as UK businesses and jobs."

Pottery has been used to mark historical moments for centuries - and now UK potters are turning clay into everything from Brexit to Donald Trump

STORYLINE

The distinctive blue and white of the Willow pattern - a Chinese inspired design developed by English ceramic artists and found on tableware throughout the world.

However look closer at this particular china and you may notice a few subtle differences. In amongst the tranquil birds and weeping willows you'll see storm clouds brewing over Britain, Westminster's Big Ben falling over and the 12 stars of the EU flag reconfiguring.

This is what the designer Harriet Coles is calling Brexit Ware - a range of pottery she created following Britain's referendum on membership of the EU which resulted in the decision to leave.

"At the end when the vote came through my whole world turned upside down and I had to think it through. And I suppose it's a kind of art therapy. I'm coming to terms with the whole process," she says.

Coles says that if you go into any regional museum in Britain you'll find 'political pottery' poking fun at figures such as Napoleon or celebrating events such as the end of the Crimean war. So Brexit felt like another significant point in British history which needed to be marked.

Within her Willow pattern plate she's created images such as a refugee with a child in an enclosure south of Calais, German Chancellor Angela Merkel watching over events and Westminster being shaken by the result of the referendum.

"There were reports of MPs clustered in groups in the corridors of Westminster straight after the vote and it felt to me as if, right at the heart of politics Big Ben had taken a bash, so I painted it fallen over," Coles explains.

Despite being open about her fears regarding Brexit, not least for its impact on the pottery industry, there's also plenty of humour behind Coles' Brexit Ware. These tongue in cheek egg cups, decorated with "Hard Brexit" and "Soft Brexit", were so popular that 400 sold in less than 4 weeks when they were first released.

"The Willow pattern plate, was looking at the whole thing and the experience, it was a bit of an outpouring of emotion, but the egg cups are just sort of: 'Oh goodness me this is a long run isn't it, let's have a good old giggle'," says Coles.

Although Coles is based in Buckinghamshire, her Brexit Ware is manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent, widely regarded as the home of British pottery. Today she's displaying her works in the city's Spode Heritage Centre, whose 'Blue Room' of Willow pattern works provided her inspiration for Brexit Ware and whose staff act as Cole's consultants.

However the decorating and firing process takes place at nearby ceramic printers and decorators Edwards & Lockett.

But Brexit isn't the only major historical moment being marked at this business. Edwards & Lockett also created a range of mugs and plates to commemorate the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

"We've got a lot of interest from some pretty major companies up and down the country and indeed from abroad who are very interested in commemorative ware for it," explains company director David Lockett.

"It does keep the industry buoyant and keeps places like this going," he adds.

But here in Stoke on Trent it's not only UK royals and politicians who are being immortalised in clay. At Bairstow Manor Pottery the world's most famous political figure, U.S. President Donald Trump, is the subject their latest Toby Jug. Standing at 10 cm tall this limited edition of the divisive American leader holds his finger in his trademark hand gesture.

"He's an ideal choice to do. Basically whether you love him or hate him someone always buys these kinds of things," explains the company's painter, Daniel Smith.

Founded in in 1930s, Bairstow Manor Pottery has become world famous for its satirical representations of political leaders. In the company's own nod to Brexit they have put Theresa May next to a British lion and are calling the model "Brexitannia".

"We do all the political pieces like the Prime Ministers, we do a series of mini Prime Ministers, and we sell those in the House of Commons," says Smith.

But although Brexit egg cups and Prime Ministers on lions might seem like a bit of fun, Tom Reynolds from the British Ceramics Confederation says these witty works also reflect genuine concerns over what Britain's exit from Europe could mean for the industry.

"50 per cent of our exports go to the European Union and so we need to keep tariff free and barrierless trade with the EU. The other is that the EU provides protections against dumped Chinese imports, so we need to make sure that those protections are still in place after the UK leaves the European Union," he says.

According to figures from the British Ceramics Confederation the UK Ceramics Sector produces 2 billion UK pounds' worth of sales annually - 550 million of which come from exports.

But while the future for Britain post Brexit remains unknown, the current political situation is providing plenty of inspiration for the country's potters.

The "hard Brexit"-supporting European Research Group on Wednesday published its plan for solving one of the thorniest outstanding issues - the border between the UK's Northern Ireland and EU member Ireland, when Britain leaves the Union.

Britain and the EU both say there must be no customs posts or other infrastructure along the currently invisible frontier, but they have not agreed on how that can happen once the UK leaves the bloc's tariff-free customs union.

"If we can provide a border that is as good as the existing EU borders then that answers that question to a reasonable person test. And that is what is, I think, new about this paper," the leading Brexitier and the Chairman of the European Research Group, Jacob Rees-Mogg said.

The pro-Brexit group said customs officials could check goods bound for export to the Republic of Ireland before the border.

"This is looking at the exemption in Rotterdam where, although the EU regulation says the veterinary checks must be immediately at the border they're actually 12 miles away in Rotterdam. Just  looking at EU precedents, EU law, EU agreements on equivalence with Canada and working through that to provide an answer that is valid under EU law, rather than a wish list from us," Rees-Mogg said.

Critics say the EU has already rejected similar proposals as inadequate to protect the open border, a cornerstone of Northern Ireland's peace process.

Leading Brexit-supporting lawmakers insisted Wednesday that they aren't about to topple Prime Minister Theresa May, despite strong opposition to her plan for taking Britain out of the European Union.

A faction of May's Conservative Party opposes her proposal to keep the UK aligned to EU rules after Brexit in return for free trade in goods.

They say that would keep Britain tethered to the bloc and unable to strike new trade deals around the world.

Several dozen rebel lawmakers have discussed attempting to trigger a no-confidence vote in May in hope of replacing her with a strongly pro-Brexit politician such as former Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, a fierce critic of May's Brexit blueprint.

Britain is due to leave the EU on March 29, but divorce talks have foundered amid Conservative divisions over how close a relationship to seek with the bloc.

Hopes are fading that Britain and the European Union can strike a deal at an EU summit in October as originally planned, but there are growing expectations that the EU is planning another meeting for November.

EU leaders have issued encouraging statements recently, saying a deal is possible in the next two months if both sides are realistic.

Pottery has been used to mark historical moments for centuries - and now UK potters are turning clay into everything from Brexit to Donald Trump

And with the upcoming marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle the factories are particularly busy preparing the latest range of Royal Wedding china.

STORY-LINE

The distinctive blue and white of the Willow pattern - a Chinese inspired design developed by English ceramic artists and found on tableware throughout the world.

However look closer at this particular china and you may notice a few subtle differences. In amongst the tranquil birds and weeping willows you'll see storm clouds brewing over Britain, Westminster's Big Ben falling over and the 12 stars of the EU flag reconfiguring.

This is what the designer Harriet Coles is calling Brexit Ware - a range of pottery she created following Britain's referendum on membership of the EU which resulted in the decision to leave.

"At the end when the vote came through my whole world turned upside down and I had to think it through. And I suppose it's a kind of art therapy. I'm coming to terms with the whole process," she says.

Coles says that if you go into any regional museum in Britain you'll find 'political pottery' poking fun at figures such as Napoleon or celebrating events such as the end of the Crimean war. So Brexit felt like another significant point in British history which needed to be marked.

Within her Willow pattern plate she's created images such as a refugee with a child in an enclosure south of Calais, German Chancellor Angela Merkel watching over events and Westminster being shaken by the result of the referendum.

"There were reports of MPs clustered in groups in the corridors of Westminster straight after the vote and it felt to me as if, right at the heart of politics Big Ben had taken a bash, so I painted it fallen over," Coles explains.

Despite being open about her fears regarding Brexit, not least for its impact on the pottery industry, there's also plenty of humour behind Coles' Brexit Ware. These tongue in cheek egg cups, decorated with "Hard Brexit" and "Soft Brexit", were so popular that 400 sold in less than 4 weeks when they were first released.

Although Coles is based in Buckinghamshire, her Brexit Ware is manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent, widely regarded as the home of British pottery. Today she's displaying her works in the city's Spode Heritage Centre, whose 'Blue Room' of Willow pattern works provided her inspiration for Brexit Ware and whose staff act as Cole's consultants.

However the decorating and firing process takes place at nearby ceramic printers and decorators Edwards & Lockett.

But Brexit isn't the only major historical moment being marked at this business. Edwards & Lockett are currently putting the finishing touches to a range of mugs and plates to commemorate the upcoming royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

"We've got a lot of interest from some pretty major companies up and down the country and indeed from abroad who are very interested in commemorative ware for it," explains company director David Lockett.

"It does keep the industry buoyant and keeps places like this going," he adds.

But here in Stoke on Trent it's not only UK royals and politicians who are being immortalised in clay. At Bairstow Manor Pottery the world's most famous political figure, U.S. President Donald Trump, is the subject their latest Toby Jug. Standing at 10 cm tall this limited edition of the divisive American leader holds his finger in his trademark hand gesture.

"He's an ideal choice to do. Basically whether you love him or hate him someone always buys these kinds of things," explains the company's painter, Daniel Smith.

Founded in in 1930s, Bairstow Manor Pottery has become world famous for its satirical representations of political leaders. In the company's own nod to Brexit they have put Theresa May next to a British lion and are calling the model "Brexitannia".

But although Brexit egg cups and Prime Ministers on lions might seem like a bit of fun, Tom Reynolds from the British Ceramics Confederation says these witty works also reflect genuine concerns over what Britain's exit from Europe could mean for the industry.

According to figures from the British Ceramics Confederation the UK Ceramics Sector produces 2 billion UK pounds' worth of sales annually - 550 million of which come from exports.

But while the future for Britain post Brexit remains unknown, the current political situation is providing plenty of inspiration for the country's potters.

Pottery has been used to mark historical moments for centuries - and now UK potters are turning clay into everything from Brexit to Donald Trump

STORYLINE

The distinctive blue and white of the Willow pattern - a Chinese inspired design developed by English ceramic artists and found on tableware throughout the world.

However look closer at this particular china and you may notice a few subtle differences. In amongst the tranquil birds and weeping willows you'll see storm clouds brewing over Britain, Westminster's Big Ben falling over and the 12 stars of the EU flag reconfiguring.

This is what the designer Harriet Coles is calling Brexit Ware - a range of pottery she created following Britain's referendum on membership of the EU which resulted in the decision to leave.

"At the end when the vote came through my whole world turned upside down and I had to think it through. And I suppose it's a kind of art therapy. I'm coming to terms with the whole process," she says.

Coles says that if you go into any regional museum in Britain you'll find 'political pottery' poking fun at figures such as Napoleon or celebrating events such as the end of the Crimean war. So Brexit felt like another significant point in British history which needed to be marked.

Within her Willow pattern plate she's created images such as a refugee with a child in an enclosure south of Calais, German Chancellor Angela Merkel watching over events and Westminster being shaken by the result of the referendum.

"There were reports of MPs clustered in groups in the corridors of Westminster straight after the vote and it felt to me as if, right at the heart of politics Big Ben had taken a bash, so I painted it fallen over," Coles explains.

Despite being open about her fears regarding Brexit, not least for its impact on the pottery industry, there's also plenty of humour behind Coles' Brexit Ware. These tongue in cheek egg cups, decorated with "Hard Brexit" and "Soft Brexit", were so popular that 400 sold in less than 4 weeks when they were first released.

"The Willow pattern plate, was looking at the whole thing and the experience, it was a bit of an outpouring of emotion, but the egg cups are just sort of: 'Oh goodness me this is a long run isn't it, let's have a good old giggle'," says Coles.

Although Coles is based in Buckinghamshire, her Brexit Ware is manufactured in Stoke-on-Trent, widely regarded as the home of British pottery. Today she's displaying her works in the city's Spode Heritage Centre, whose 'Blue Room' of Willow pattern works provided her inspiration for Brexit Ware and whose staff act as Cole's consultants.

However the decorating and firing process takes place at nearby ceramic printers and decorators Edwards & Lockett.

But Brexit isn't the only major historical moment being marked at this business. Edwards & Lockett also created a range of mugs and plates to commemorate the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

"We've got a lot of interest from some pretty major companies up and down the country and indeed from abroad who are very interested in commemorative ware for it," explains company director David Lockett.

"It does keep the industry buoyant and keeps places like this going," he adds.

But here in Stoke on Trent it's not only UK royals and politicians who are being immortalised in clay. At Bairstow Manor Pottery the world's most famous political figure, U.S. President Donald Trump, is the subject their latest Toby Jug. Standing at 10 cm tall this limited edition of the divisive American leader holds his finger in his trademark hand gesture.

"He's an ideal choice to do. Basically whether you love him or hate him someone always buys these kinds of things," explains the company's painter, Daniel Smith.

Founded in in 1930s, Bairstow Manor Pottery has become world famous for its satirical representations of political leaders. In the company's own nod to Brexit they have put Theresa May next to a British lion and are calling the model "Brexitannia".

"We do all the political pieces like the Prime Ministers, we do a series of mini Prime Ministers, and we sell those in the House of Commons," says Smith.

But although Brexit egg cups and Prime Ministers on lions might seem like a bit of fun, Tom Reynolds from the British Ceramics Confederation says these witty works also reflect genuine concerns over what Britain's exit from Europe could mean for the industry.

The other is that the EU provides protections against dumped Chinese imports, so we need to make sure that those protections are still in place after the UK leaves the European Union," he says.

According to figures from the British Ceramics Confederation the UK Ceramics Sector produces 2 billion UK pounds' worth of sales annually - 550 million of which come from exports.

But while the future for Britain post Brexit remains unknown, the current political situation is providing plenty of inspiration for the country's potters.

Pro- and anti-Brexit demonstrators crowded the streets around Parliament on Wednesday as Britain bid farewell to outgoing leader Theresa May and prepared to welcome Boris Johnson as the country's next prime minister.

A double-decker red bus circulated around London with a giant photo of Johnson, reading: #WeAreWatchingYouBoris.

Two giant banners were stretched out in Parliament Square, demanding a people's vote on Brexit.

"Put it to the people," one read in large capital letters which could be read from the skies.

"We think that the final decision on Brexit should be given to everyone," said Kirsty O'Brien, one of the organizers.

Other demonstrators used humour to send their message.

Dressed as a clown and wearing a Johnson mask, one man mocked the incoming prime minister's strategy and famous positivity.

But Brexiteers were equally visible and held large red signs reminding Johnson of the referendum voting results.

Those in favour of Brexit held signs reading "believe in Britain" and "we voted leave."  

Pro-Brexit protester Elena Dobson said it was "ridiculous" Brexit had taken this long.

"He better do what he said he would do which is to take us out of the EU on the 31st of October come what may," she said.

The leader of the UK's Brexit party said on Tuesday that if they come out on top in this week's European elections, they would demand to have places on the European Union negotiating team.

Nigel Farage addressed a full crowd during a rally in London, saying that the Brexit Party "must be part of the process" to make sure Britain departs from the bloc on its October 31 deadline.  

He said since the party's recent launch they had given millions and millions of frustrated people optimism and belief in Britain and the democratic process.

"I think that this is now about far more than leaving the European Union. This is now about a bigger, more fundamental question of democracy."

British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday offered UK lawmakers the chance to vote on whether to hold a new referendum on the country's membership in the European Union - but only if they back her thrice-rejected Brexit agreement.

May made the offer as part of a desperate attempt to persuade Parliament to back a divorce deal that will allow the UK make an orderly, if delayed, departure from the EU.

"If we win, if we win big on Thursday we will kill off any prospect of Parliament forcing a second referendum upon us because they know they would lose," said Farage.

The former UKIP leader called May the "worst prime minister in the history of the nation," and said toppling her would be a "nice bonus" of winning in this week's elections.

He added that a big Brexit win "may get rid of (Labour leader) Jeremy Corbyn as well."

"Buy one, get one free, how about that."

Britain voted for Brexit in June 2016 and was due to leave the EU on March 29, but the bloc has extended the deadline until October 31 amid the UK's political impasse.

Nigel Farage's Brexit Party on Tuesday unveiled its plan to win over Labour voters in next month's European Parliament elections.

Addressing supporters in London, Farage said the party would be campaigning in "predominantly Labour areas" including south Wales, the Midlands and the north of England.

Farage said "61 percent of Labour MPs represent Brexit constituencies".

Britain was supposed to have left the European Union before the European elections, which take place in late May in every EU nation.

But with Britain's parliament still deadlocked over whether to approve the government's divorce deal with the bloc, EU leaders have postponed the Brexit deadline until 31 October.

Winning candidates from Britain will only get to serve as long as their country remains in the EU.

Britain's ruling Conservatives and the opposition Labour party are unenthusiastic about running in the European Parliament election, where they are likely to be punished by disgruntled voters.

But pro-Brexit and pro-EU parties are eager to run in a contest seen by many as a way to express their strongly divergent views on the EU.

Farage, who formerly led the UK Independence Party and has sat in the European Parliament since 1999, was instrumental in helping the Leave side win Britain's 2016 referendum on EU membership.

Nigel Farage, the politician who spearheaded Britain's campaign in leaving the European Union, has launched a new political party, the Brexit Party.

The former UKIP leader hit out at both the Conservative and Labour parties and labelled leaders as "incompetent," during his launch speech in Coventry which was held days after Britain was granted a second Brexit delay.

"Our leaders are happy to continue down the path of managed decline. I genuinely believe right now this nation, we are lions led by donkeys," Farage said.

Farage also used the event to unveil his star candidate, Annunziata Rees-Mogg, the sister of Conservative Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg ahead of May's European Union elections.

He also said that the party had raised more than 750,000 pounds ( 982,000 US dollars) since its soft launch earlier this month.

Farage's former party, UKIP, has also said it would run candidates in all parts of the UK in the European Union elections.

Reactions were mixed among leave and remain protesters after Britain's Parliament voted Thursday to seek a delay of the country's departure from the European Union - a move that will likely avert a chaotic withdrawal on the scheduled exit date of March 29.

Hundreds of protesters were seen demonstrating outside London's Parliament on Thursday, with pro-Brexit supporters carrying placards reading "Leave means leave" and anti-Brexit campaigners holding up EU flags.

Remain supporter Val Astles told the Associated Press that delaying the EU departure was "good news," adding "we needed a delay."  

Another anti-Brexit supporter, Peter Beagan, said he thinks the UK needs a much longer extension, stressing that he did not think Prime Minister Theresa May's deal would ever be approved in Parliament.

Members of the UK Indpendence Party, UKIP, were present to voice their opposition against a delayed departure.

Before the vote took place, UKIP leader Gerrard Batten said, "if Parliament now votes to ask for an extension to Article 50, then that will be the basic betrayal of the referendum and the British people who voted to leave."

He added, "What they (the governemnt) will do is they will ask for an extension to Article 50 on the basis that this can be extended indefinitely so eventually the whole referendum can be overturned."

Footage from after Thursday's vote showed one UKIP member swearing at remain campaigners, and police at the scene working to maintain calm.

With Brexit due in 15 days and no divorce deal yet approved, the House of Commons voted 413-202 to ask the bloc to put off Britain's exit until at least June 30.

The official result was initially announced as 412-202, but was later amended to 413 in the official voting list.

'DOGS DINNER' ANTI-BREXIT PROTEST AT UK PARLIAMENT

With "porky pies" and Eton Mess on the menu, dozens of dogs dressed in EU colours shared "a dog's dinner" in London on Sunday (10 MARCH 2019), outside the UK Parliament, in protest over Brexit.

Billed as the "world's biggest dog's dinner", the event was organised by Wooferendum, a campaign group supporting calls for a second referendum on Britain's withdrawal from the European Union.

Among other speakers was Femi Oluwale, the spokesperson Our Future Our Choice, who said most people who voted for Brexit will feel betrayed as what they were promised in campaigns promoting Brexit will not materialise.

Another anti-Brexit advocate, Jason Hunter, called the public vote on the withdrawal in 2016 "a 'fraudorendum', calling on the House of Commons not to honour its results.

On Tuesday, British lawmakers will yet again vote on the prime minister's Brexit deal.

The deputy leader of the UK's opposition Labour Party said on Wednesday that when Parliament resumes in October it must focus on securing a public vote on Brexit before a general election.

Tom Watson warned a snap general election before the end of the year "could fail to solve Brexit chaos."

"The only way to break the Brexit deadlock once and for all is a public vote in a referendum," Watson said.

He said he and many others respected the result of the 2016 referendum "for a very long time".

"That years-old plebiscite is no longer a valid basis on which to take such a momentous decision about the future of the United Kingdom," he said.

He said Labour must campaign unequivocally to remain in the European Union.

"I don't believe there is such thing as a good Brexit deal," he said.

This puts him at odds with the stance of the Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn who pledged to hold a second referendum on leaving the EU if his Labour Party wins the next general election with a "credible" leave option and the chance to remain both on the ballot paper.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Britain must leave the EU at the end of October, with or without a divorce deal smoothing out post-Brexit trade.

Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer attacked the option of a "no deal" Brexit during an address at a CBI business group dinner in London on Tuesday.

Philip Hammond stressed that to advocate for a no deal Brexit was to "highjack" the result of the first referendum and "knowingly to inflict damage on our economy and our living standards."

Earlier in the day British Prime Minister Theresa May offered UK lawmakers the chance to vote on whether to hold a new referendum on the country's membership in the European Union - but only if they back her thrice-rejected Brexit agreement.

May made the offer as part of a desperate attempt to persuade Parliament to back a divorce deal that will allow the UK make an orderly, if delayed, departure from the EU.

Speaking at the address later that evening, Hammond said that May's latest offering was a "great step forward," and that "the immediate priority must of course be delivering a solution to the Brexit impasse."

"I will continue to fight in the face of this polarisation for a negotiated Brexit, an outcome that respects the British people's decision to leave, while recognising that there is no mandate for a no deal exit, and that we have an absolute obligation to protect Britain's jobs, businesses and future prosperity," he said.

Britain voted for Brexit in June 2016 and was due to leave the EU on March 29, but the bloc has extended the deadline until Oct. 31 amid the U.K.'s political impasse.
