The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby boy.

The new member of the House of Windsor , and the third in the line to the throne, enters the world as the sun moves from the astrological star sign of Cancer into Leo.

STORYLINE

The new royal baby straddles the signs of sensitive Cancer and fiery Leo.

The great aunt to the Duchess of Cambridge's son is Princess Ann, the Princess Royal, and yes, she's a Leo.

Other lions in the House of Windsor include the young royal, Princess Beatrice, who was born 8 August 1988, the Queen's late sister Princess Margaret (21 August 1930 - 9 February 2002) and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother , who was born more than a century ago on 4 August 1900.

The Queen's great grandson is expected to show some of the characteristics of sensitive cancer, the sign he shares with his father, Prince William (21 June 1982) , and his grandmother, Princess Diana. But according to astrologers even members of the royal family born under different star signs display classic Leo characteristics.

The lion is an important symbol of royalty and it's prominent in the Queen Mother's coat of arms detailed here on the Queen Elizabeth memorial gates , entry to Hyde Park.

Astrologer Adam Smith has been studying the planets which some believe will determine characteristics of the third in the line to the throne.

He says: "There's a lot of Leo within the House of Windsor. So the Queen has quite strong Leo characteristics, Charles has Leo characteristics. Princess Margaret, Princess Anne, the Queen Mother who are all sun Leos. So, there's quite a lot riding on when the baby comes out."

Smith points out that one of the most famous and powerful Leos in the world is the US President Barak Obama:"Well, I suppose the most famous Leo in the world, at the moment, is President Obama. There aren't many people who can feel this comfortable upstaging a royal, but Leo Usain Bolt, born 21 August 1986, has to be one of them.

Here he's allowing Prince Harry, the royal baby's uncle, to win the race. But there's no doubt it's Bolt who is the fastest man in the world.

The world of celebrity has its fair share of Leos too.

Sir Mick Jagger, the ostentatious front man of the Rolling Stones, has just celebrated his 70th birthday. He was born 26 July 1942.

Australian visitors Sue Picken and Lorna Hill are typical of those excited by this royal occasion.

Pinken says "I think a whole new generation are more interested in, you know, the Royals."

While Hill argues you can't help getting caught up in the excitement because: "They're such an adorable couple. Can't help but like them so yes."

Others though are here just for the cricket like Australians Tony Guatieri and his friend Glen Hayward.

Outside the hospital there's been a carnival atmosphere - one well wisher even created their own version of this new Madonna and Child.

22 July 2013 is when this new royal lion roared into the history books.

A funeral has been held for Egyptian actor Nour el-Sherif.

The Arab film star died after a long illness.

STORY-LINE

Hundreds gather in 6th of October City in Cairo to say their last goodbyes to the famous Egyptian actor Nour el-Sherif.

The actor died at the age of 69 on Tuesday after suffering an unspecified long illness.

El-Sherif's big break was in the late 1960s when he played a supporting role in "The Palace of Desire," the screen adaptation of one of the novels in a trilogy by Egyptian Nobel Prize laureate Naguib Mahfouz.

He went on to become one of the Arab world's top male actors for much of the 1970s and 1980s in the heydays of Egyptian cinema.

Today, Egyptian celebrities like Samir Sabry, Adel Imam and Mostafa Bakry have come to pay their last respects to the actor.

The prominent journalist Mostafa Bakry says it is a great loss to say goodbye to such a talent.

"Nour el-Sherif is not only an artist, but he is a human being by the true definition of the word. He was always concerned about the country and the Islamic nation and I think that losing him represents a great loss," says Bakry.

Abdel Hakim Abdel Nasser, son of late Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser, was also at the funeral and offered his condolences to el-Sherif's family.

"I send my condolences to his family, and to all of Arab art, God rest his soul," says Abdel Nasser.

HUGH GRANT ARRESTED OVER BAKED BEANS ASSAULT

Actor Hugh grant was arrested by London police on Wednesday night after he allegedly threw of tub of baked beans at a paparazzi photographer outside his house on Tuesday morning.

Photographer Ian Whittaker told the UK's Daily Star tabloid that Grant had kicked and shouted abuse at him, before hurling the baked beans at him.

The newspaper ran photos of him on Wednesday showing Grant holding a plastic tub over his head.

The Metropolitan Police does not identify suspects who have not been charged, but said a 46-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of assault and released on bail.

No charges had been laid, police said.

Grant's lawyers were not immediately available for comment.

Grant is no stranger to the holding cells.

In 1995, while dating his ex girlfriend Liz Hurley, Grant was arrested in Hollywood for indecent conduct with a prostitute, Divine Brown in a public place.

Britain's Prince Harry on Tuesday condemned the media for subjecting girlfriend Meghan Markle to "a wave of abuse and harassment".

He issued a highly unusual statement that confirmed his relationship with the US actress and expressed concern for her safety.

Harry's office said that while the 32-year-old prince understood that there was significant curiosity about his private life, a line had been crossed in terms of media intrusion.

"Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her", said the statement from Kensington Palace.

Camilla Tominey, Royal Editor at British newspaper Sunday Express, said that while Markle would not have the same expectation of privacy as "the girl next door", some media reports had crossed a line.

The 35-year-old Markle is best known for playing paralegal Rachel Zane in the TV legal drama "Suits".

She has also worked with the United Nations on gender equality and is a global clean water campaigner.

Tabloids in Britain and beyond have jumped on the story and speculated about the relationship for weeks, with many commenting on her mixed-race heritage and contrasting her background with the prince's.

LAWSON ASSISTANTS FOUND NOT GUILTY

Two former assistants to celebrity chef, Nigella Lawson and her ex-husband, Charles Saatchi were found not guilty of fraud by a UK court on Friday.

The jury at London's Isleworth Crown Court rejected prosecution claims that Elisabetta Grillo and her sister Francesca had used credit cards loaned to them by Lawson and Saatchi for household expenses to run up unauthorized charges of 685 thousand pounds (more than 1 (m) million US dollars).

Richard Cannon, a solicitor for the two sisters, said his clients were "naturally relieved" by the verdict.

"This has been a long hard fight played out in the gaze of the world's media. Elisabetta and Francesca would like to thank their friends and relatives for their love and support", he said during a statement outside the court.

Throughout the trial the defence lawyers for the Grillos had claimed that Lawson approved their high spending in exchange for their silence about her drug use.

That argument shifted the spotlight from the sisters squarely onto Lawson and Saatchi, who divorced in July after he was photographed grabbing her neck outside a London restaurant.

Lawson accused Saatchi of spreading the rumours about her drug use after the damning images surfaced.

She admitted to taking cocaine but strongly denied she was a regular or frequent drug user, blaming her use of the drug in 2010 on her troubled marriage to Saatchi.

Police said on Friday they will not be investigating allegations the cook took cocaine.

STORYLINE

Rebekah Brooks, once one of the most powerful people in the British media, on Wednesday formally denied charges of phone hacking, bribing public officials and trying to thwart a police investigation into tabloid wrongdoing.

The former chief executive of Rupert Murdoch's News International arrived at court with her husband Charlie Brooks, who along with six others, is accused of trying to pervert the course of justice by concealing documents, computers and other material from the police.

Brooks is accused of five counts of intercepting voicemail messages, conspiracy to commit misconduct involving public officials and obstructing a police investigation by withholding evidence.

She answered "not guilty" in a firm voice to all five charges during a hearing at London's Southwark Crown Court.

Charlie Brooks and former News of the World royal reporter Clive Goodman, also entered pleas of "not guilty" and also face criminal trials.

Brooks is a key figure in the phone-hacking scandal that has rattled Britain's press, police and political establishments.

The scandal erupted in 2011, after it was revealed that journalists at News International's now-shuttered News of the World tabloid routinely hacked into the voicemail messages of celebrities, members of the royal household and other people in the public eye, including crime victims and a murdered 13-year-old girl.

It led Murdoch to close down the News of The World and spawned large police investigations into phone hacking, computer hacking and the bribery of officials for information.

Allegations of wrongdoing have since spread to other papers outside the Murdoch empire, and scores of journalists, police officials, and executives have been arrested or dismissed from their jobs.

Wednesday's pre-trial hearings saw more than a dozen defendants, close to 30 lawyers and a large press contingent crammed into a London courtroom.

Several former News of the World staff, including ex-chief reporter Neville Thurlbeck, former news editor James Weatherup and former managing editor Stuart Kuttner, also denied intercepting voice mails.

Sunday marks the 30th anniversary of the killings by the Manson family in California.

The group, led by the charismatic Charles Manson, murdered seven people in Los Angeles - including the Hollywood actress Sharon Tate.

Manson remains in jail - with little prospect of release - but the episode continues to exert a grisly facsination for many across the globe.

Thirty years after orchestrating the killings of seven people, he's now reached retirement age - but the infamous wild-eyed stare appartently remains defiant.

The man whose portrait on the cover of LIFE magazine once terrorized a nation has stubbornly refused to be buried in the past.

His personal website run by one of his followers haunts the internet, enabling him to thrust his thinking on the masses, even from prison.

The site also sells his musical recordings and T-shirts bearing his likeness that help glorify this criminal as some sort of anti-hero for the counterculture.

The band Guns N' Roses even recorded one of Manson's songs on an album that's sold more than two million copies worldwide.

How a mass murderer has become a cult celebrity among young people mystifies the prosecutor who helped bring Manson down.

It seems that after three decades, some people either don't remember or refuse to believe that Manson led a group of fairly intelligent but drugged-up followers to commit savage and random murders.

On the night of August 9, 1969, Manson's followers raided the home of the beautiful screen actress Sharon Tate and her husband, the film director, Roman Polanski.

While Polanski was in Europe, the pregnant Tate and four others in the home were stabbed, beaten and shot.

Most of these victims were well-known in their own right but none was more famous than Sharon Tate, whose corpse was found hanging from a rafter in the living room - the word PIGS scrawled along the front door with the dead actress' blood.

Polanski returned to face the press.

And then the next night, the police found the LaBiancas, a couple also killed in same brutal fashion, in the upper middle class neighborhood of Los Feliz.

A carving fork was even found protruding from Leno LaBianca's stomach and the word "WAR" cut into his flesh.

The Tate mansion was torn down several years ago and today a nine bedroom, eighteen thousand square foot mansion occupies the lot and is on the market for nearly eight million dollars.

Vincent Bugliosi was the lead prosecutor in the case and turned his account into the best-selling book "Helter Skelter."

Manson's most violent behavior in the courtroom was dramatized in the movie adaptation of his book that bears the same title.

"People confuse abnormal values with insanity. Manson was not insane. He knew what he was doing. He knew exactly what he was doing. He was insane like Hitler was insane.

Despite Manson's sociopathic behavior, Bugliosi's book contends that Manson was not insane but deliberately plotted the murder in order to ferment a race war between Blacks and Whites in the U-S.

It took the police three months before they arrested Manson and the cult that worshipped him on a ranch outside of Los Angeles.

They called themselves his family, believed he was the second coming of Jesus Christ and followed his orders without question.

The ten-month-long Manson trial was by all accounts an extremely bizarre spectacle that some say would have brought the United States to a halt had it been televised.

Those who were there say it transfixed the nation by providing a glimpse into a highly aberrant lifestyle of Manson and his followers.

The realtor who leased the Benedict Canyon estate to Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski says it took her years to recover from the murders.

She and others still remember above all how the savage slayings combined with the fame of the victims ignited an

unprecedented wave of fear all over Los Angeles.

Among the stranger incidents, one of the defense attorneys disappearing and later found dead, Manson singing in court and one day he and his followers even carving an "X" onto their foreheads.

A-P reporter Linda Deutsch covered the Manson trial thirty years ago - it was her first big case.

She argues that while Manson is probably not insane, back then he was far too deranged from psychedelic drugs to have actually constructed a logical reason to have these people killed.

"I don't know if Manson even knew why he did the killings. My own feeling is that there was no reason for the

killings except that Manson had achieved total control over these people and the only last thing to do was to use them to do murder.

Manson's codefendants, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten were convicted with him after trying to absolve him of the crimes by admitting their own guilt.

Another codefendant, Charlie "Tex" Watson was convicted in a later trial.

All of them were sentenced to death.

But the death penalty was briefly outlawed in the US in 1972 and these killers along with hundreds of other death row inmates were given life imprisonment.

Manson alone maintains that he is innocent because he personally did not commit any of the killings with his own hands.

But for the victims' families, his legacy haunts them every day of their life.

Manson is by all accounts a terribly behaved prisoner particularly because he knows he'll never leave.

But his erstwhile followers have been model prisoners and must remain so if they ever want to be released.

Stephen Kay says the only one who might possibly be paroled is Leslie Van Houten because only she was not involved in both murder scenes.

But even though Manson spends much of his days behind bars, he will remain in the consciousness of the American psyche for as long as people remain fascinated with evil.

Saturday night (6 January 2007) in Detroit, Michigan, was all about when the stars met the cars.

Hollywood celebrities came to the Motor City to participate in the GM Style event.

The event was held on the eve of the 2007 North American International Auto Show which previews the latest innovations in the auto industry.

GM Style is part fashion show, part auto show.

The event teams celebrities such as Jay-Z, Christian Slater and Carmen Electra up with top of the line cars.

'Dreamgirls' star Jennifer Hudson may be a lady, but she says she is attracted to big boy cars:

'Dancing with the Stars' runner-up Mario Lopez was escorted on the runway by a Chevrolet WTCC - a concept race car which premiered in the 2006 Paris Motor Show.

Pop star Michael Jackson has been formally charged with repeatedly molesting a cancer-stricken boy invited to his Neverland Ranch, setting the stage for what could become one of the most sensational celebrity cases the world has ever seen.

The nine-count felony complaint charged Jackson with seven counts alleging lewd or lascivious acts upon a child under 14 and two counts of administering an intoxicating agent, apparently wine.

The molestation charges each carry between three and eight years in prison.

No details of the alleged acts were included in the complaint, which repeatedly stated they were committed "with the intent of arousing, appealing to, and gratifying the lust, passions, and sexual desires" of Jackson and the child.

The complaint further alleged that Jackson had "substantial sexual conduct" with the child in February and March.

A friend of Jackson's, entertainer Uri Geller, said the singer had made what he called "devastating mistakes" by admitting to inviting children into his bedroom in a recent television interview.

Jackson's attorney, Mark Geragos, said the pop star would fight the charges "with every fibre of his soul".

At a news conference in California on Thursday, Santa Barbara County District Attorney Tom Sneddon dismissed the suggestion that the delay in filing charges signalled a weak case.

Sneddon agreed to delay Jackson's arraignment by a week to January 16 and return Jackson's passport to allow him to travel to Britain from December 20 to January 6.

BEYONCE, JAY Z, JOIN 'JUSTICE FOR TREYVON' PROTEST

Hundreds of demonstrators joined Trayvon Martin's mother on Saturday in New York City at one of about 100 rallies around the United States calling for justice for the slain teenager.

Celebrities, including singer Beyonce and her rapper husband JAY Z, also joined the rally in New York.

Martin's mother, Sybrina Fulton, and the Reverend Al Sharpton led the noontime "Justice for Trayvon" rally on a blazing hot plaza in downtown Manhattan, where the temperature topped 90 degrees (32 degrees Centigrade).

Several people who took part in the rally called for long-term change.

"We have to find a way to go through the system to try to get something done the right way, so that it will stick," one woman told US television.

The rallies in New York and elsewhere come a week after a Florida jury found George Zimmerman not guilty in the death of the unarmed black teenager.

Zimmerman, a neighbourhood watch volunteer, had followed Martin because he thought he might be a burglar.

Other rallies took place in cities across the country, including Washington, DC, where radio talk show host Joe Madison told the crowd, "I am Trayvon Martin," echoing a cry supporters of Martin have chanted in their efforts to ensure that black youth are no longer viewed with suspicion because of their skin colour.

"Stand-your-ground" laws are on the books in more than 20 states, and they go beyond many older, traditional self-defence statutes.

In general, the laws eliminate a person's duty to retreat in the face of a serious physical threat.

Zimmerman relied on a traditional self-defence argument and didn't invoke stand-your-ground, though the judge included a provision about it in instructions allowing jurors to consider it as a legitimate offence.

In Miami, Tracy Martin spoke about his son.

"This could be any one of our children," he said.

"Our mission now is to make sure that this doesn't happen to your child."

A British court on Friday sentenced a tabloid journalist to four months in prison for hacking into royal officials' voicemail systems, prompting his editor to resign.

The judge said he had no option but to hand a prison sentence to Clive Goodman, the royal editor of the News of the World, describing his crime as "reprehensible in the extreme."

Goodman's accomplice, private investigator Glenn Mulcaire, was sentenced to six months in prison for hacking into the messages, including some from Princes William and Harry, sons of heir to the throne Prince Charles.

Neill Blundell, Glen Mulcaire's solicitor spoke on behalf of Goodman, saying he was sorry for any harm he had caused.

"He (Goodman) by no means excuses his actions but wishes to make clear that the pressures of work clouded his judgement," Blundell said.

However he added that Goodman believed that no harm was really caused by the stories he published.

"He has worked loyally for the News of the World for some years and is sad that it has to end this way. He says his future at this stage is uncertain but he is vigorously perusing several options that are open to him and should come to fruition in the near future," added Blundell.

Shortly after the sentencing, The News of the World's editor Andy Coulson announced his resignation.

Coulson said in a prepared statement that he decided that the time has come for him to take ultimate responsibility for the events around the Clive Goodman case.

The judge said Mulcaire duped mobile phone network operators into passing him confidential pin numbers to access

messages left on the cell phones.

He passed those onto Goodman, and between them the pair made 609 separate calls to the voicemail systems of three senior members of the royal household.

The calls to intercept the voicemail messages made between November 2005 and June 2006 targeted the telephones of the Prince of Wales's aide Helen Asprey, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the ex-SAS (Special Air Service) officer who is private secretary to Princes William and Harry, and Charles' communications secretary Paddy Harverson.

Mulcaire, once a semi-professional soccer player, had also pleaded guilty to five other charges of intercepting messages of well-known figures, including those of supermodel Elle Macpherson.

Goodman and Mulcaire had earlier apologised through their lawyers to the Prince of Wales, Princes William and Harry at a previous hearing, and the judge said their contrition had allowed them to have a more lenient sentence than the maximum two years they faced.

Royal commentator, Dickie Arbiter, said he believed Goodman may have hacked into the royal officials voicemail's in the pursuit of a front page story.

The Sun newspaper later published the transcripts, and ran excerpts of a conversation between Diana and a man who affectionately called her "squidgy."

STORYLINE:

Police have now arrested nine people in connection with an alleged plot to kidnap pop star Victoria Beckham by ambushing her outside her house with a chemical knockout spray, Scotland Yard and a British newspaper said.

Police on Saturday said officers had arrested four men and one woman whom they believed were part of the conspiracy to kidnap Beckham - formerly of girl band the Spice Girls and wife of England soccer captain David Beckham - after the News of the World tabloid Sunday newspaper tipped them off.

The arrests came during two raids in east and south London, police said.

Police later said a further four people had been arrested late on saturday night and early on Sunday morning. A man and a woman were arrested at an address in Croydon, just south of London, and another two alleged gang members were arrested in relation to allegations of theft.

The newspaper, which said its reporters had infiltrated the gang of Romanian and Albanian kidnappers, reported that they planned to ambush Victoria Beckham in front of her home in Hertfordshire, north of London, and use a chemical spray to sedate her and any companions.

If either of her two sons were with her, the tabloid said, the kidnappers would have seized them too.

They planned to take their captives to a house in Brixton, south London, and demand 5 (m) million pounds sterling ($US7.8 million) ransom, the paper reported.

Victoria Beckham told the News of the World she was stunned and shocked by the news.

Neither she nor her husband made any other public comment.

David Beckham, who captains England's national soccer team and plays for Manchester United, is one of Britain's biggest sports stars and the Beckhams are among the country's most popular celebrities.

Victoria Beckham gave birth in September to the couple's second child, a boy named Romeo.

The News of the World said its reporters had lured three of the alleged criminals to an east London hotel on Saturday by claiming they wanted to buy paintings and a jewel-encrusted crown the gang had stolen from Sotheby's auction house.

Police arrested the men outside the hotel.

Detective Chief Superintendent John Coles, head of Scotland Yard's Serious and Organised Crime Command, said the police were very grateful to the News of the World for its actions, which not only foiled the kidnap plot but assisted in the recovery of a number of valuable stolen items.

The five suspects were not charged with any crime, but a Scotland Yard spokeswoman said they were being detained under suspicion of theft and conspiracy to kidnap.

Police foiled a 1999 plot kidnap plot against Victoria Beckham and her older son Brooklyn, although no one was arrested in that case.

Victoria Beckham said later that she and her husband had hired a bodyguard for their son.

ANALYST ON PRINCE HARRY CONDEMNING MEDIA

Britain's Prince Harry on Tuesday (8 NOV. 2016) condemned the media for subjecting girlfriend Meghan Markle to "a wave of abuse and harassment."

He issued a highly unusual statement that confirmed his relationship with the American actress and expressed concern for her safety.

Harry's office said that while the 32-year-old prince understood that there was significant curiosity about his private life, a line had been crossed in terms of media intrusion.

"Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her," said the statement from Kensington Palace.

Camilla Tominey, Royal Editor at British newspaper Sunday Express, said that while Markle would not have the same expectation of privacy as "the girl next door", some media reports had crossed a line.

"There's an acceptance that she is out there and she is famous already," said Tominey, "but any responsible journalist knows that that's not an excuse to then launch into unfair comment and invective and indeed harass her to the point that I believe last week photographers were trying to break into her house."
