STORYLINE:

MAN SENTENCED IN FATAL STABBING OF MORGAN FREEMAN'S GRANDDAUGHTER

A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of actor Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter in New York City.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Lamar Davenport stabbed his girlfriend E'Dena Hines multiple times while under the influence of alcohol and drugs in August 2015.

Davenport issued an apology during his sentencing hearing Thursday, and said, ``I don't remember what happened.''

Davenport was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in May.

Hines was an aspiring actress and played a small role in the movie ``5 Flights Up'' along with Freeman and Diane Keaton.

Freeman said in a statement after her death that ``the world will never know her artistry and talent.''

His publicist previously said that while Hines was Freeman's step-granddaughter, he referred to her as his granddaughter.

STEPHEN COLLINS DENIES HE'S A PEDOPHILE IN INTERVIEW

Embattled actor Stephen Collins says he's not a pedophile and insists he has inappropriately touched a minor on only one occasion.

In an interview with Yahoo's Katie Couric, the "7th Heaven" star described himself instead as someone suffering from "exhibitionist urges" and "big boundary issues."

Those issues prompted a physical encounter with an underage girl in 1973.

According to Collins, the girl had come to visit and stay with him and his first wife. After his wife had gone to sleep, he and the girl were watching TV together.

"I took her hand and moved it in such a way that she was touching me inappropriately," he said. "I knew that something unthinkably wrong had just happened that I couldn't take back."

He also said he exposed himself to a teenage girl in 1982 and another in 1994.

He said he has had no such urges since 1994.

Collins, who is being investigated by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department on molestation allegations but has not been charged with any crime, characterized his actions with the girl and the two teens as "terrible, and I regret them deeply," adding, "I'm absolutely not attracted, physically or sexually attracted, to children. I'm just not."

In response to Couric's direct question, Collins said he has never been attracted to young boys.

Collins said he's been in treatment and religious counseling for 20 years.

"I'm a human being with flaws," he said. "I have dealt with them very, very strongly and commitedly in my private life."

In October, TMZ released a 2012 audio recording of Collins purportedly acknowledging molesting underage girls during a marriage-counseling session with his estranged wife, actress Faye Grant. Collins said Grant recorded the session without his or the therapist's consent. Grant has said she gave police the audio only after Collins refused to seek appropriate treatment. But she has denied giving the recording to TMZ.

Within hours of TMZ posting its story, two TV networks announced they were canceling scheduled re-runs of "7th Heaven," and Collins lost roles in the upcoming film "Ted 2" and this season of the ABC series "Scandal." Collins had played a devoted family man and pastor on the wholesome drama "7th Heaven" for 11 seasons.

Los Angeles police investigated him in 2012 and reviewed their case in October but a spokeswoman said Friday there were no updates on its status. Los Angeles Sheriff's Department detectives also opened an investigation into Collins over an early 1980s incident, but as of Friday had not presented their case to prosecutors.

Collins and Grant remain in divorce proceedings.

ROBERT DOWNEY JR.'S SON ARRESTED IN DRUG CASE

Actor Robert Downey, Jr. thanked authorities who arrested his 20-year-old son on Sunday (29 JUNE 2014) on suspicion of cocaine possession and said the family was determined to get him the help he needs.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Valentine said Indio Falconer Downey was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after a car he was in was pulled over in West Hollywood.

Valentine says Downey was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Indio Downey was later released after posting $10,250 (USD) bail and a court date was set for Aug. 29.

Two other people were in the car, but only Downey was arrested.

"Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it," Robert Downey, Jr., who had a series of high-profile drug-related arrests, wrote in a statement. "There is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being. We're grateful to the

Sheriff's department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."

Indio Downey appeared in the 2005 movie "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," which starred his father.

The wife and adult children of Robin Williams agreed Monday to meet outside court to try to resolve their dispute over a tuxedo he was married in, photographs taken on his 60th birthday and other items belonging to the late actor.

San Francisco Superior Court Judge Andrew Cheng told lawyers for both sides during a hearing to meet before April 10 and enlist the help of a mediator if necessary before returning to court.

In papers filed in December, Susan Williams said the contents of the home she shared with Robin Williams should be excluded from the things the actor left his children from previous marriages.

She also claimed some of her husband's personal items were taken without her permission.

Williams' children countered that Susan Williams was "adding insult to a terrible injury" by trying to change the trust agreement and rob them of items that their father clearly intended them to have.

They said the belongings include clothing, watches, photos taken prior to his marriage to Susan Williams, and entertainment awards.

Attorney Jim Wagstaffe told the judge that Susan Williams has agreed with how hundreds of items should be distributed and was trying to amicably resolve problems involving others. She also said she wants their wedding presents.

"I think we can work our way through this," Wagstaffe said.

Attorney Meredith Bushnell, who is representing Robin Williams' children Zachary, Zelda and Cody, said the public dispute has been excruciating for her clients.

"We would like to see this wrapped up as soon as possible, so they can move on with their lives and continue the grieving process," the attorney told Judge Cheng.

Robin Williams died in August at his home in Tiburon in the San Francisco Bay Area. The coroner ruled his death a suicide. The actor's wife has said he struggled with depression, anxiety and a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease.

SNOOKI'S HUBBY PLEADS GUILTY TO DUI

First he said, "I do." Then he pleaded guilty.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's husband pleaded guilty on Monday (1 DEC. 2014) in Totowa, New Jersey, to driving under the influence. The charges stem from his arrest on Interstate 80 in August.

The plea came two days after 27-year-old Jionni LaValle and the MTV reality series star got married at a "Great Gatsby" themed wedding.

A Municipal Court official tells NJ.com charges of unsafe lane changes and careless driving were dropped.

LaValle's driver's license was suspended for three months and he was ordered to pay a $614 fine attend classes on the dangers of drinking and driving.

Polizzi and LaValle have two children, ages 2 and 2 months. They live in Morris County, New Jersey.

MORGAN FREEMAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO SLAIN GRANDDAUGHTER

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of actor Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter on a Manhattan street.

Lamar Davenport, of New York City, was charged with second-degree murder on Monday, a day after 33-year-old E'dena (eh-DEEH'-nah) Hines was found lying on the street with multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Police say the Davenport was in a relationship with Hines. She was found in front of her apartment building on West 162nd Street and was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

Freeman issued a statement saying that "The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer."

Hines had studied acting and was involved with teaching urban youth.

She is the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife.
