STEPHEN COLLINS DENIES HE'S A PEDOPHILE IN INTERVIEW

Embattled actor Stephen Collins says he's not a pedophile and insists he has inappropriately touched a minor on only one occasion.

In an interview with Yahoo's Katie Couric, the "7th Heaven" star described himself instead as someone suffering from "exhibitionist urges" and "big boundary issues."

Those issues prompted a physical encounter with an underage girl in 1973.

According to Collins, the girl had come to visit and stay with him and his first wife. After his wife had gone to sleep, he and the girl were watching TV together.

"I took her hand and moved it in such a way that she was touching me inappropriately," he said. "I knew that something unthinkably wrong had just happened that I couldn't take back."

He also said he exposed himself to a teenage girl in 1982 and another in 1994.

He said he has had no such urges since 1994.

Collins, who is being investigated by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department on molestation allegations but has not been charged with any crime, characterized his actions with the girl and the two teens as "terrible, and I regret them deeply," adding, "I'm absolutely not attracted, physically or sexually attracted, to children. I'm just not."

In response to Couric's direct question, Collins said he has never been attracted to young boys.

Collins said he's been in treatment and religious counseling for 20 years.

"I'm a human being with flaws," he said. "I have dealt with them very, very strongly and commitedly in my private life."

In October, TMZ released a 2012 audio recording of Collins purportedly acknowledging molesting underage girls during a marriage-counseling session with his estranged wife, actress Faye Grant. Collins said Grant recorded the session without his or the therapist's consent. Grant has said she gave police the audio only after Collins refused to seek appropriate treatment. But she has denied giving the recording to TMZ.

Within hours of TMZ posting its story, two TV networks announced they were canceling scheduled re-runs of "7th Heaven," and Collins lost roles in the upcoming film "Ted 2" and this season of the ABC series "Scandal." Collins had played a devoted family man and pastor on the wholesome drama "7th Heaven" for 11 seasons.

Los Angeles police investigated him in 2012 and reviewed their case in October but a spokeswoman said Friday there were no updates on its status. Los Angeles Sheriff's Department detectives also opened an investigation into Collins over an early 1980s incident, but as of Friday had not presented their case to prosecutors.

Collins and Grant remain in divorce proceedings.

ROBERT DOWNEY JR.'S SON ARRESTED IN DRUG CASE

Actor Robert Downey, Jr. thanked authorities who arrested his 20-year-old son on Sunday (29 JUNE 2014) on suspicion of cocaine possession and said the family was determined to get him the help he needs.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Sheriff's Sgt. Dave Valentine said Indio Falconer Downey was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after a car he was in was pulled over in West Hollywood.

Valentine says Downey was booked on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, believed to be cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Indio Downey was later released after posting $10,250 (USD) bail and a court date was set for Aug. 29.

Two other people were in the car, but only Downey was arrested.

"Unfortunately there's a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it," Robert Downey, Jr., who had a series of high-profile drug-related arrests, wrote in a statement. "There is a lot of family support and understanding, and we're all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he's capable of being. We're grateful to the

Sheriff's department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale."

Indio Downey appeared in the 2005 movie "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang," which starred his father.

SNOOKI'S HUBBY PLEADS GUILTY TO DUI

First he said, "I do." Then he pleaded guilty.

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi's husband pleaded guilty on Monday (1 DEC. 2014) in Totowa, New Jersey, to driving under the influence. The charges stem from his arrest on Interstate 80 in August.

The plea came two days after 27-year-old Jionni LaValle and the MTV reality series star got married at a "Great Gatsby" themed wedding.

A Municipal Court official tells NJ.com charges of unsafe lane changes and careless driving were dropped.

LaValle's driver's license was suspended for three months and he was ordered to pay a $614 fine attend classes on the dangers of drinking and driving.

Polizzi and LaValle have two children, ages 2 and 2 months. They live in Morris County, New Jersey.

MORGAN FREEMAN PAYS TRIBUTE TO SLAIN GRANDDAUGHTER

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of actor Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter on a Manhattan street.

Lamar Davenport, of New York City, was charged with second-degree murder on Monday, a day after 33-year-old E'dena (eh-DEEH'-nah) Hines was found lying on the street with multiple stab wounds to the chest.

Police say the Davenport was in a relationship with Hines. She was found in front of her apartment building on West 162nd Street and was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

Freeman issued a statement saying that "The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer."

Hines had studied acting and was involved with teaching urban youth.

She is the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife.

RAPPERY YOUNG JEEZY SEES WEAPON CHARGE DISMISSED

A felony weapons charge against platinum-selling rapper Young Jeezy has been dismissed after a prosecutor said there wasn't enough evidence to support the case.

Orange County Deputy District Attorney Renee Jones sought the dismissal during a court hearing Thursday (11 DEC. 2014) but declined to elaborate on what new information led to it.

Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, and five others were arrested in August after authorities served a search warrant at the Verizon Amphitheatre in Irvine and found an AK-47.

Police were investigating the death of a man who was shot backstage at a concert Jeezy co-headlined with Wiz Khalifa days earlier at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View. Jeezy and the other five, who included a tour bus driver and his wife, were never identified as suspects in the killing.

Jeezy and the others each pleaded not guilty to a single count of felony possession of an assault weapon.

The rapper did not attend Thursday's hearing but attacked his arrest and the filing of charges. "I pray this had nothing to do with race, but it definitely had nothing to do with evidence," Jeezy wrote.

He criticized what he called a rush to judgment by the media and police.

"I'm relieved that the truth has ultimately prevailed, and I would like to thank those who have always stood by me including my family and fans," Jeezy wrote.

Jones said the investigation into the shooting death of Eric Johnson, 38, is ongoing.

Orange County Superior Court Judge Robert C. Gannon granted the dismissal and said he would sign orders allowing Jeezy and his entourage to regain their passports and other property seized from them.

Jeezy's attorney Blair Berk said she was pleased the case was dropped but said the rapper should not have been arrested or charged.

BICHIR, KRUGER ATTEND 'THE BRIDGE' PREMIERE

Mexican star Demian Bichir and German actress Diane Kruger brought their significant others to the red carpet Monday night (8 JULY 2013) in Los Angeles to celebrate their FX crime drama 'The Bridge.'

Bichir posed with his girlfriend Stefanie Sherk, a Canadian model and actress, while Kruger brought along her husband, actor Joshua Jackson.

"Sonya and Marco, it's almost like an analogy of Mexico and the United States, because they're so different -- we are so different and so close together -- and we need to work together to solve all the problems that we have in common," said Bichir about the show's central relationship between the Mexican detective he plays and Sonya Cross of the El Paso police department, played by Kruger.

Critics have noted the show's similarities to the Showtime hit "Homeland." Both were adapted from successful foreign series and the executive producer of "The Bridge" worked on "Homeland" as well. Each of the main characters also copes with a disability.

"The Bridge" starts with a body found on the bridge between El Paso and Juarez, Mexico, but that initial premise spins out into a variety of plot points -- touching on everything from political corruption to border safety.

"There is 'The Lost Girls of Juarez,' there is sort of the immigration issues, there are all of the border politics, and what FX and we have kind of done, bravely, is really address them authentically as well," said actress Annabeth Gish, who plays a wealthy widow whose husband was involved in some sort of human smuggling. "The show is substantially in Spanish and English and it's very provocative on so many levels."

The detectives soon come to believe they're dealing with more than just one murder, but to give away more than that would be to ruin the experience for viewers.

"My character is sinister and weird and odd and he gets weirder and weirder and darker and darker and I get more and more excited to go to work every day," summed up Matthew Lillard, who plays a newspaper reporter named Daniel Frye.

"The Bridge" begins on FX Wednesday night, July 10. The series airs at 10 p.m. Eastern.

MAN SENTENCED IN FATAL STABBING OF MORGAN FREEMAN'S GRANDDAUGHTER

A man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of actor Morgan Freeman's step-granddaughter in New York City.

Prosecutors say 33-year-old Lamar Davenport stabbed his girlfriend E'Dena Hines multiple times while under the influence of alcohol and drugs in August 2015.

Davenport issued an apology during his sentencing hearing Thursday, and said, ``I don't remember what happened.''

Davenport was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in May.

Hines was an aspiring actress and played a small role in the movie ``5 Flights Up'' along with Freeman and Diane Keaton.

Freeman said in a statement after her death that ``the world will never know her artistry and talent.''

His publicist previously said that while Hines was Freeman's step-granddaughter, he referred to her as his granddaughter.

Police responding to a 911 call at about 3 a.m. found 33-year-old E'dena (eh-DEEH'-nah) Hines lying on the street with multiple stab wounds to the chest. She was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.

A 30-year-old man was taken into police custody at the scene - in front of Hines' apartment on West 162nd Street.

Freeman issued a statement saying that "The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer."

Hines had studied acting and was involved with teaching urban youth. She is the granddaughter of Freeman's first wife.

No charges have been filed. Police are investigating the stabbing.
