Team Sunweb rider Tom Dumoulin spoke to the press on Monday as the riders enjoyed the Tour de France's first rest day in Aix-les-Bains.

Dumoulin currently sits in 15th position in the Tour, two minutes and three seconds behind Belgian leader Greg Van Avermaet.

The Dutchman said the second part of the Tour will "definitely be a big battle."

"We all had a little bit of bad luck but all the same, all the guys lost about a minute with either a crash or mechanical. Well, almost all the guys, except Geraint Thomas is still in a really good place in GC (General Classification). So it's e really close together and now we just need mountains to see some differences."

"It's going to be brutal. I saw the last two days of this three days block. I did a recon (reconstruction) of the stages and its really, really difficult. The first day I didn't see. But it will definitely be a big battle."
