US Republican Presidential Candidate Donald Trump reaffirmed on Wednesday that people in the US illegally cannot receive legal status, despite recently suggesting he might be softening his stance on immigration.

Trump is telling thousands of supporters in Phoenix that "you cannot obtain legal status by entering the country illegally."

His immigration plan will not offer a path to legal status or citizenship: "There will be no amnesty."

Trump is summing up a nearly hour-long talk without effectively changing his overall position, the crux of his campaign for more than a year.

He says that the United States welcomes immigrants but that "they have to come into our country legally and properly vetted and in a manner that serves the national interest."

President-elect Donald Trump is renewing his Twitter complaints about the Broadway hit "Hamilton."

Early Sunday morning, Trump wrote on Twitter that the cast and producers "should immediately apologize to Mike Pence for their terrible behavior." He also said he heard the show was "highly overrated."

The vice president-elect attended the show Friday night. At the end, actor Brandon Victor Dixon challenged him from the stage, saying the cast was concerned about the Trump administration.

Trump fired off two angry messages on Twitter Saturday morning, calling for an apology. He posted another such message Saturday evening, but then deleted it.

Trump picked his transition chairman and other leaders on Friday.

It's his biggest staffing announcement since he won the election this week.
