BRAD PITT SAYS HE HAS GIVEN ANGELINA JOLIE PITT MILLIONS SINCE SPLIT

Brad Pitt says he has given estranged wife Angelina Jolie Pitt $1.3 million and lent her another $8 million since their separation two years ago.

The declaration in a court filing Wednesday (08 AUGUST 2018) is meant to counter Jolie Pitt's assertion in documents a day earlier that Pitt has paid ``no meaningful child support.''

Jolie Pitt's attorneys also said in the Tuesday filing requesting a case management hearing that she wanted to have the couple's marriage dissolved by the end of the year by separating some of the lingering issues to be resolved later.

Pitt's lawyers say the actor actually suggested this move and it had already been agreed to.

Pitt's attorneys say in their document that the actress' filing Tuesday was an unnecessary attempt to manipulate media coverage.

BRAD PITT HONORED BY THE NEW YORK FILM CRITICS CIRCLE

Jet-setting power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie brought their own brand of star power to the New York Film Critics Circle awards Monday (Jan. 9) where Pitt was crowned best actor.

Before the awards ceremony, Pitt said creative fulfillment and the longevity of a project is how he measures the success of his work.

"We're trying to make a film that has something to say now and the question is does it have something to say in five years in 10 years, 20 years. That's always been the quest. This is a nice bi-product of that," he explained.

Pitt said he relished the chance to catch up with friends like George Clooney during the grind of a jam-packed awards season.

"Yeah it's nice. Yeah I'm really happy that George is along for the ride because he's just - no one does it better. But it's a, I look forward to get back to making things, at the same time you know it's a really honor. It's fun. It's a time that we all get to catch up again and we've all been in different parts of the world filming so you get to see the (acting) community, so it's nice for that."

It was a double celebration for the Hollywood dad who was honored for his performances in the baseball film "Moneyball" and Terrence Malick's cosmic drama "Tree of Life."

"Well you love them for different reasons and they're - it's not just the film itself, it's the time you spent on it. They're mile markers in a way for your own personal experience," said Pitt.

Both of those films also earned other awards: "Tree of Life" for best cinematography by Emmanuel Lubezki and "Moneyball" for Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin's screenplay.

The evening's big winner was silent film ode "The Artist," which took the year's best film award, giving the nostalgic black-and-white movie an early boost to its already promising Academy Awards prospects.

"The Artist" also earned best director for the French filmmaker Michel Hazanavicius, who said he was not fully prepared for the awards season mania to begin.

"I think you can't be ready. You can't prepare yourself for someone like that. What we can do is to enjoy every single hour of that adventure, sure," said Hazanavicius.

Meryl Steep was chosen as best actress for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in the upcoming "The Iron Lady." The suddenly ubiquitous Jessica Chastain won best supporting actress for a trio of performances in "Tree of Life," "The Help" and "Take Shelter."

"He's just such a consummate professional and great actor," said Chastain of her "Tree of Life" co-star. "Of course he's Brad Pitt, the movie star legend. But he really is more for me now, I see him as Brad Pitt the serious, brilliant actor."

Albert Brooks earned best supporting actor for his against-type performance as a violent villain in the drama "Drive."

"I was lucky enough to win a New York Film Critics (award) as a writer for my movie 'Mother' and you know this is a critics group that's been doing this since the middle 1930s. So they began this whole thing. So it feels like the granddaddy of them. It does mean something," said Brooks.

The financial industry thriller "Margin Call" won best first feature. And the Iranian drama "A Separation" was picked for best foreign film.

"I'm very happy because before my films in the festivals have always had some reception, but this time the festivals have become a connection between the people and the critics," said Iranian director Asghar Farhadi.

The New York Film Critics Circle, a body of 33 New York-based critics founded in 1935, announced their annual vote on Twitter for the first time. The group describes its awards as "a principled alternative to the Oscars, honoring esthetic merit in a forum that is immune to commercial and political pressures." The group last year chose the Facebook drama "The Social Network" as best picture.

Among the films snubbed by the critics were Alexander Payne's "The Descendants," Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" and Steven Spielberg's "War Horse."

BRAD PITT'S FOUNDATION SUES ARCHITECT OVER NEW ORLEANS HOMES

Actor Brad Pitt's foundation has sued a New Orleans architect for defective design work that led to leaks and other flaws in homes built for residents of an area that was among the hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

News outlets report the lawsuit filed Tuesday (18SEPT.2018) says damages caused by architect John C. Williams could cost Pitt's Make It Right foundation more than $15 million.

The foundation says Williams was responsible for several failures to adequately waterproof the structures. The lawsuit says Williams' attempts at repairs were largely a failure. Williams didn't immediately return a request for comment.

Construction of the homes in Lower 9th Ward began in 2008. But water intrusion began cropping up in the first homes within a year of their completion and construction was discontinued in 2016.

What does every superstar actor want for his 50th birthday? Well according to London's Madame Tussauds, it's a new wax figure.

To honor Brad Pitt's 50th birthday on Wednesday (18 DEC.) the "Fight Club" star will be getting a new wax figure at the London tourist attraction.

And to avoid any arguments in the household, his partner Angelina Jolie will also be getting a new glammed up figure of her own.

"Well, the last figures we had of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, were actually created eight years ago," explained Nicole Fenner, PR Manager for Madame Tussauds London. "And we wanted to take this opportunity with Brad's 50th birthday to introduce new figures and give them a bit of a refresh and dress them in some new clothes that really capture that moment when you see them on the red carpet."

Each wax figure at Madame Tussauds costs around �150, 000 (pounds sterling) to produce.

The figures are both dressed in glamorous red carpet attire; Pitt in a black suit and tie and Jolie in a long satin blue evening gown with a thigh length split.

In order to truly capture them on the red carpet, the Jolie wax figure stands in a pose you might recognize.

"We've looked at hundreds and thousands of pictures of how Angelina poses on the red carpet, and when she posed very ironically a couple of years ago, that's something we wanted to draw inspiration with the figure that we have here," said Fenner.

So, what will happen to the old statues? According to Madame Tussauds, they'll be sent to the archive for safe keeping.

ANGELINA JOLIE PITT FILES FOR DIVORCE FROM BRAD PITT

Brangelina is no more. Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for divorce from Brad Pitt, bringing an end to one of the world's most star-studded, tabloid headline-generating romances.

An attorney for Jolie Pitt, Robert Offer, said Tuesday in a statement that she has filed for the dissolution of the marriage. Offer said the decision to divorce was made "for the health of the family."

Offer refused to answer questions about the divorce.

The couple has six children together: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

Though together for 12 years, Pitt and Jolie Pitt only wed in August 2014. They married privately in the French hamlet of Correns in Provence with their children serving as ring bearers and throwing flower petals. They announced the ceremony days later.

This is the second marriage for Pitt, who previously wed Jennifer Aniston. It's the third for Jolie Pitt, who was previously married to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

Though their initial romance - begun after the pair starred together in 2005's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" - sparked an avalanche of tabloid interest, Jolie Pitt and Pitt settled into their own unique kind of globe-trotting domesticity.

The pair adopted children from Cambodia, Vietnam and Ethiopia. And they sought to direct the glare of their celebrity toward other causes. Jolie Pitt, a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations, became an outspoken voice for refugees and various causes in Africa, as well as for breast cancer treatment after undergoing a double mastectomy.

Jolie Pitt also launched herself as a film director. Last year, the couple starred together in her "By the Sea," playing a glamorous couple vacationing together in France while their marriage was on the rocks. It made a mere $538,000 at the box office.

In a 2014 interview with The Associated Press, Jolie Pitt said playing a couple with marital problems was cathartic.

"It almost makes you get past those issues because you can laugh at them," Jolie Pitt said. "You do a film about bad marriage and you witness that behavior. You study it, you let it out, you attack each other and then you just want to hold each other and make sure you never behave that way."

BRAD PITT AND CAST ATTEND 'FURY' WORLD PREMIERE IN WASHINGTON DC

It was a rainy night in Washington DC but that didn't keep the stars from coming out Wednesday (15 OCT. 2014) for the world premiere of "Fury."

Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf and the rest of the cast walked the red carpet and posed with World War II veterans.

Speaking at the event, Pitt explained the importance of telling this brutal account of war.

"I think that we're still living in very violent, chaotic times, times that we don't understand to the fullest," he said.

"It is considered a cleaner war, yet, again, my time with vets and men who were there at that time, they will tell you that the realities of the Geneva Convention couldn't come to play at the end there when they were deep into Germany. It was murkier. It was just murkier and certainly what was witnessed was every bit as awful as what's witnessed by our young men and women today."

Pitt plays a hardened Army sergeant named Wardaddy, who commands a five-man tank crew on a deadly mission into Nazi Germany after the allied invasion.

The 50-year-old actor saw no reason why his 13-year-old son Maddox shouldn't see the film, despite its realistic violence.

"My oldest son has seen it, yeah. My oldest son has seen it. He's a World War II buff," Pitt said.

He explained his rationale.

"I come from a different generation I guess as far as that's concerned," he said.

"My father would take us to the Drive-In as very young kids and we'd see Clint Eastwood movies and Kung Fu movies. I just have a different take on that. The world is a beautiful place, it's also a very violent place and we talk about it afterwards and I'm not so opposed."

LaBeouf looked past the violence and felt camaraderie with his cast mates.

"There's a lot of love in that tank, overwhelming love. I never had brothers, so it's wild to make that happen out of nowhere. Strangers turn into brothers in seven months. It's a trip," LaBeouf said.

That provided a better understanding of the bonds men make during war.

"It's unconditional love. Society doesn't really allow for men to unconditionally love one another unless you're at war," LaBeouf said.

LaBeouf - often tabloid fodder during the last year - was involved in an incident in June that began with getting ejected from the Broadway musical, "Cabaret," and ended with him spending the night in jail.

The actor isn't dwelling on the negative press though.

"It's fun to laugh about stuff," LaBeouf said.

Former "Walking Dead"' star Jon Bernthal feels it was necessary to make the film as real as possible to honor those that served during World War II.

"I think the goal here was to dive in as fully as possible. Look, what we get to do is we get to work under the umbrella of safety. We're trying to get as fair, as fresh and as real a taste of what life really would have been like for these guys, so we pushed ourselves to go to as dark a place as possible and to endure as much as possible and get as proficient on that tank as possible, so I'm proud for the commitment. I'm very proud of all these guys," Bernthal said.

David Ayer, who wrote and directed the film, admits he took a "white knuckle" approach when making the film.

"It was a brutal set, let's just say that. I mean these guys did a lot of work together. They trained together. They fought to together. They slept together. They ate together. They really bonded as brothers, so that chemistry on the screen is absolutely real. You bring the skill of the actor to that brotherhood and camaraderie they felt as real people. Nothing can beat that," Ayer said.

Logan Lerman plays the rookie of the bunch - and that wasn't just in the movie.

"I was the new guy every day so I got treated like that but the same time I went through everything that every one of these guys went through. We dedicated our whole year to this one movie, which is rare. We gave up four months in prep and we shot the movie for five months and gave one hundred percent of ourselves to the project and didn't hold back," he said.

Michael Pena confirmed that much of the physical interaction between the cast was real.

"We actually did spar for a month before that and you really get to know somebody when you spar with them. It's just one of those things. But it was a rough shoot for sure. It was very physical. Everybody wanted to do it for real and everybody had the same amount of dedication. They wanted this movie to really make sense and to be as good as it could be," Pena said.

Actor Brad Pitt got a unique opportunity to speak to a NASA astronaut Monday, asking him anything from what life is like in space to what he thought of his upcoming film, the new space movie "Ad Astra."

"Who was more believable?" Pitt asked. "Clooney or Pitt?"

NASA astronaut Nick Hague answered Pitt _ "absolutely" _ getting a big laugh. Pitt's Hollywood pal George Clooney starred in the 2013 space film "Gravity."

"How'd we do?" Pitt also asked Hague.

"I gotta tell you, it was really good" Hague said. "And the depictions, the settings -- all as you can tell -- looked very similar to the type of setting, you know, I've got around me."

The International Space Station crew previewed "Ad Astra" a few weeks ago. The movie opens Friday.

In it, Pitt portrays an astronaut who travels through the solar system to find his father. The film includes actual NASA shots of the moon and Mars. Hague praised the zero-gravity depictions.

In his call, Pitt noted the movie's spaceship was "a bit cleaner" than the station, setting off a big laugh among all on the call.

Pitt and Hague also discussed health and well-being while in space. Hague said his biggest take away from his 200 days on mission, outside of the idea that humans are small, is the importance of international cooperation to make space exploration possible.

"International cooperation is so important," he said. "For me, that is the biggest thing that I've pulled from this mission -- is that idea of cooperation at a global scale, is what's going to propel humanity into the future."

The stars of Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time …. in Hollywood"  hit the red carpet in Berlin Thursday (01AUG.2019) for the film's European premiere.

Writer and director, Quentin Tarantino, joined his A-list cast including Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie on the red carpet at the Sony Centre.

Pitt smiled after he was asked if this is his year to win an Oscar and said, "Oh god, who knows, we're not there yet!"

He gave a longer answer when asked about Quentin Tarantino.  "The name has become a noun, a verb, an adverb, do you know what I mean? Everyone knows what you mean when you say a Tarantino film. Thats no small mark," he said.

The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt as Tinseltown old-timers in a 1969 Los Angeles where old Hollywood is transitioning from studio-driven fare to auteur-driven movies and its brightest stars are fading.

Rick Dalton, played by DiCaprio, is one such star, who, in the face of industry change and his creeping has-been status, finds himself in the throes of an existential crisis.

Pitt plays Cliff Booth - Dalton's longtime stunt double and all-around go-fer, who is casual friends with DiCaprio's character and witness to the star's slow breakdown.

It's the first time DiCaprio and Pitt have made a feature together, though the two co-starred in a 2015 short directed by Martin Scorsese.  

Joining Pitt and DiCaprio at the premiere was Margot Robbie, who stars as real-life actress Sharon Tate.  Asked about her reprisal of "Suicide Squad" character Harley Quinn in the upcoming "Birds of Prey," Robbie said, "Well with Harley you never really know what to expect, it's probably gonna be pretty crazy, like she is, pretty fun, pretty funny, yeah I think the movie really reflects her personality, kind of irrelevant, occasionally violent, very funny, loving.. yeah it's fun."

At the U.S. box office, "Once Upon A Time ... In Hollywood" took $40 million in its opening weekend for Sony, besting the 2009 opening of Tarantino's "Inglourious Basterds" by $2 million.

"Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood" is out now in the U.S. and hits U.K. theaters August 14.

FBI SAYS IT'S EVALUATING ABUSE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST BRAD PITT

The FBI is gathering information about an incident involving actor Brad Pitt and his family aboard a private flight last week, the agency confirmed Thursday (22 SEPT. 2016).

Spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said the FBI is still evaluating whether to open an investigation into allegations Pitt was abusive during the flight toward one of his six children with actress Angelina Jolie Pitt, as several media outlets have reported.

The news reports from anonymous sources contend the actor is under investigation by a child welfare agency because of the Sept. 14 airborne incident.

Amara Suarez, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, said the agency could not confirm whether it was investigating Pitt or the well-being of the former couple's children.

A representative for Pitt declined comment Thursday.

Jolie Pitt filed for divorce Monday and her lawyer released a statement the following day saying she came to the decision "for the health of the family." She listed their separation date as Sept. 15, the day after the alleged plane incident, and the actress is seeking sole custody of all six of the children.

A phone message left for Jolie Pitt's attorney Laura Wasser was not returned Thursday.

Koochiching County, Minnesota, Sheriff Perryn Hedlund told The Associated Press on Thursday that Brad Pitt was on a plane that landed at the International Falls, Minnesota, airport near the Canadian border on Sept. 14.

Hedlund said his sheriff's deputies were not called to the airport, and International Falls police were also not called.

"There's no incident whatsoever reported to law enforcement," Hedlund said.

He said he didn't know why the plane landed in International Falls, but said it's not uncommon for hockey players or other celebrities to stop at the airport.

Messages left with the airport's manager were not returned Thursday.

Pitt and Jolie Pitt - known as "Brangelina" - were together for 12 years but only wed in August 2014. They married privately at their French chateau in the Provence hamlet of Correns with their children serving as ring bearers and throwing flower petals. They announced the ceremony days later.

Their six children include 15-year-old Maddox, 12-year-old Pax, 11-year-old Zahara, 10-year-old Shiloh, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

This is the second marriage for Pitt, 52, who previously wed Jennifer Aniston. It's the third for Jolie Pitt, 41, who was previously married to Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller.

In 2006, they formed the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, to which they funneled many of the millions they made selling personal pictures to celebrity magazines.

In addition to their philanthropy, much of their off-screen public image has been about their role as parents.

Although Jolie Pitt's divorce filing sought sole physical custody of their children, divorce experts say the actors will have to agree to a parenting plan or face a public custody battle in court. Both actors have, in separate statements, said their primary concern was their children and asked for privacy.

AUTHOR SAYS BRANGELINA TO BREAK UP

Could Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's days together as a couple be numbered? Author Ian Halperin says so. In fact, he gives the couple "15-to-18 months" to call it quits.

Halperin has released a tell-all, unauthorized biography of the couple's relationship, which he says deconstructs the myth of this larger-than-life celebrity duo.

"There's just been too much myths behind the couple and too many stories over the years without substance and I really wanted to cut through all the gloss and hype and get to the bottom of who Brangelina actually is."

And, who is that exactly? Halperin says they are a couple who were first drawn together by sex.

PITT LENDS REBUILDING HAND IN NEW ORLEANS

Recent father and Hollywood veteran Brad Pitt lent his celebrity muscle to the rebuilding effort in New Orleans after witnessing first-hand the devastation left by Katrina, almost a year later.

Pitt attended a press conference Friday (14/07) to give an update on a project he is promoting: a competition to choose ecologically sound designs for rebuilding New Orleans neighbourhoods.

The boyfriend of actress turned U.N. goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie said he was shocked at the scale of the destruction:

Global Green USA, a national environmental organisation, is working with Pitt on the design project. Pitt heads a jury of architects, city residents and others who on Friday decided on the top five environmentally friendly designs out of more than 100 entries. Actor Brad Pitt got a unique opportunity to speak to a NASA astronaut Monday, asking him anything from what life is like in space to what he thought of his upcoming film, the new space movie "Ad Astra."

"Who was more believable?" Pitt asked. "Clooney or Pitt?"

NASA astronaut Nick Hague answered Pitt _ "absolutely" _ getting a big laugh. Pitt's Hollywood pal George Clooney starred in the 2013 space film "Gravity."

"How'd we do?" Pitt also asked Hague.

"I gotta tell you, it was really good" Hague said. "And the depictions, the settings -- all as you can tell -- looked very similar to the type of setting, you know, I've got around me."

The International Space Station crew previewed "Ad Astra" a few weeks ago. The movie opens Friday.

In it, Pitt portrays an astronaut who travels through the solar system to find his father. The film includes actual NASA shots of the moon and Mars. Hague praised the zero-gravity depictions.

In his call, Pitt noted the movie's spaceship was "a bit cleaner" than the station, setting off a big laugh among all on the call.

Pitt and Hague also discussed health and well-being while in space. Hague said his biggest take away from his 200 days on mission, outside of the idea that humans are small, is the importance of international cooperation to make space exploration possible.

"International cooperation is so important," he said. "For me, that is the biggest thing that I've pulled from this mission -- is that idea of cooperation at a global scale, is what's going to propel humanity into the future."

One thing we do is we use different hues of the color spectrum so that we have morning -- very bright, blue light that we switch and then later in the day it goes to a more normal, more balanced spectrum. PITT TO ADOPT JOLIE'S KIDS

Brad Pitt is seeking to become the adoptive father of Angelina Jolie's children, the actor's publicist announced Friday. A legal petition seeking to change the names of the children to Zahara Jolie-Pitt and Maddox Jolie-Pitt was filed Friday in Los Angeles, publicist Cindy Guagenti said in a written statement to The Associated Press.

"We are confirming that Brad Pitt is in the process of becoming the adoptive father of both

children," the statement said. "No further comment is being made."

The couple has been romantically linked since the filming of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." For months, rumours have been circulating about the extent of Jolie's off-screen relationship with Pitt.

Photos published in the July 11 issue of People show Jolie standing near her Buckinghamshire, England, estate while Pitt rides a dirt bike with Maddox. Other photos show Pitt, Jolie and Maddox at Luton Airport outside London.

Pitt and Jennifer Aniston announced their separation in January, and Aniston filed for divorce in March, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce became final in October. Pitt, 41, has denied Jolie, 30, was the reason for the split.

BRAD PITT FOUNDATION FACES LAWSUIT OVER NEW ORLEANS HOMES

An attorney plans to sue actor Brad Pitt's foundation over the degradation of homes built in an area of New Orleans that was among the hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

The forthcoming lawsuit against Pitt's Make It Right foundation will be filed on behalf of some Lower Ninth Ward residents, who attorney Ron Austin told WWL-TV have reported sicknesses, headaches, and infrastructural issues.

Enlisting award-winning architects, Pitt founded the venture in 2007, two years after Katrina devastated the city and essentially washed away what would become the Make It Right enclave.

Construction began in 2008, working toward replacing the lost housing with 150 avant-garde dwellings that were storm-safe, solar-powered, highly insulated, and "green." The homes were available at an average price of $150,000 to residents who received resettlement financing, government grants and donations from the foundation itself.

But 10 years and more than $26 million later, construction has halted at around 40 houses short of Pitt's goal, and some homes are falling apart. Residents have reported sagging porches, mildewing wood and leaky roofs.

"Essentially, Make It Right was making a lot of promises to come back and fix the homes that they initially sold these people and have failed to do so," Austin said.

The foundation in 2014 did spend an average of $12,000 each on 39 homes to replace the deteriorating TimberSIL lumber, which was billed as environmentally friendly, weatherproof and durable, NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reported. Make It Right then sued TimberSIL for $500,000, but it's unclear whether that dispute was settled.

Despite that expenditure, a year later, Pitt expressed satisfaction with what had turned into a proper Crescent City neighborhood.

"I get this swell of pride when I see this little oasis of color and the solar panels," Pitt told The Times-Picayune in 2015 . "I drive into the neighborhood and I see people on their porch, and I ask them how is their house treating them? And they say, 'Good.' And I say 'What's your utility bill?' And they'll throw something out like, '24 bucks' or something, and I feel fantastic."

Earlier this summer, Make It Right hit the headlines in New Orleans again with the demolition of one of the houses. Having been unoccupied for years, the moldering house demolished in June was described by The Times-Picayune as "a tattered loaf of rotting wood, fraying tarpaulin and ominous open doorways." Fed up, resident Constance Fowler made City Hall aware of several building code violations, and The New Orleans Advocate reported that Make It Right paid for the demolition, citing a contract.

Make It Right did not respond to WWL-TV's request for comment this week, nor to The Times-Picayune's request for comment following the demolition. But when station WDSU-TV reported on the blighted house and other residential problems in April, the foundation did provide a written statement.

"Our homeowners' well-being and privacy are some of our top priorities and we work closely with them to address their concerns," the statement read. "Each situation is different and we are currently coordinating the necessary follow up with the appropriate parties to address any areas of concern."

The report didn't indicate how many residents would join Austin's lawsuit, and many residents quoted in news articles this year said that despite some problems, they were appreciative of the foundation's work. Fowler herself told The Times-Picayune that without Make It Right, she might never have been able to afford a house.

Another resident, Neal Dupar, told WWL-TV that he's not a part of the forthcoming lawsuit, and echoed Fowler's sentiments about affordability. He said that Make It Right has responded to his complaints, sending an inspector to look at his house, though he's heard nothing in the month since.

"I don't know what the future is going to bring with this house or everybody else's house, but it's going downhill now," Dupar said.

AP SOURCE: BRAD PITT CLEARED IN CHILD SERVICES INVESTIGATION

An investigation into whether Brad Pitt was abusive toward his son on a private flight in September says the case has been closed with no finding of abuse by the actor, a source familiar with the inquiry said Wednesday.

The source, who was not authorized to speak publicly, told The Associated Press that the investigation was closed within the past few days.

Multiples sources have said the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services had been looking into allegations Pitt was abusive toward his 15-year-old son on the flight in mid-September. Pitt's wife, Angelina Jolie Pitt, filed for divorce days after the incident, and her attorney said it was "for the health of the family."

A department spokesman said the agency could not confirm it investigated Pitt.

Custody of the actors' six children has been the primary issue in their divorce. Jolie Pitt is seeking sole custody of the children, while Pitt is seeking joint custody.

Pitt has had visitation with his children under terms agreed upon by the former couple. Jolie Pitt's representatives said Monday that an agreement on custody had been reached, although a final agreement will be part of the couple's divorce judgment when it is entered.

California law favors joint custody, although details about custody arrangements are rarely made public in celebrity divorce cases.

Representatives for Pitt and Jolie Pitt did not immediately return messages seeking comment Wednesday.

The actors were married for two years and together for 12 years after becoming close while filming 2005's "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
