In a time when young people are moving back in with their parents, Hurricane Florence is turning the tables on Garland and Katherine King.
The New Bern, North Carolina, couple had to be rescued from their home by boat Friday as the storm dumped torrents of rain along the coast.
They spent the night with hundreds of others in an elementary school.
On Saturday, the retired Marine and his wife waded back out to the house to collect some pictures and papers.
Their daughter, Billie Durst, came with family and a boat to help.
The couple will be living with Durst for a while.
Their home will likely have to be gutted.
Durst says her mom is a great cook, so she's happy about the arrangement.

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Garland King, Retired Marine:
"I was going to ride out the storm. And it just got to be a little too much. When it started coming in the house, I thought it was time to get out of there."
3. Wide shot of flooded neighborhood, with King's house in distance
4. SOUNDBITE (English) Garland King: Retired Marine:
"Last night, we left. We had a boat to come by and take us over to Trent Park Elementary, and we spent the night there. This morning I got up and said, `I'm getting back to the house.' And we walked this thing, chest deep, holding hands out in the middle of this road. And we made it to the house. And it was tough. Wobbling. I was looking for water moccasins to hit me at any time. But, you know, being a Marine, we gotta get there, you know what I mean? We're mission oriented."
5. Wide of newspaper box above water
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Garland King, Retired Marine:
"We're a tight couple. So we're in it together. We grabbed hands and just walked it. And I said, `Let's do it, baby.' We give each other a kiss and made it on to the house."
7. Wide of Katherine King with arm draped on boat
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Katherine King, Wife:
