RR7448A GOLD FEVER?
The rise in the price of gold - now nearing $200 an
ounce -has been caused by two main factors:
spiralling inflation and the expectation of hugely
increased demand when the US lifts its ban on
American citizens buying gold bullion from January
1st 1975. Other nations, like the British, who are still
not allowed to buy bullion, are buying gold coins
instead. The Swiss pay fabulous prices for antique
coins, and the Italians have even got a supermarket
for gold objects.
