KRISTEN STEWART, JULIETTE BINOCHE ATTEND NYFF PREMIERE OF 'CLOUDS OF SILS MARIA'

Kristen Stewart sparkled on the red carpet Wednesday (8 OCTOBER) for the New York Film Festival premiere of 'Clouds of Sils Maria.'

She stars alongside Juliette Binoche.

Directed by French director Olivier Assayas, the film tells of an aging actress played by Binoche asked to star in a revival of a play she did earlier in her career. But now she plays an older character in the story, while a younger actress plays her original role.

Stewart, known for starring as Bella in the "Twilight" film series stars as the younger actress in the film.

The idea of shooting a film outside of the country with a French director and actor was certainly out of Stewart's comfort zone, but she loved the experience.

"Yeah, I like flying by the seat of my pants rather than packaging and delivering story to sell to people," Stewart said.

The 24-year old actress says she trusted director Olivier Assayas.

"I've always really gravitated toward filmmakers that somewhat, even if they're not European, kind of represent something that's a little bit more common when you go over there to make a movie. There is something languid and fluid and natural and brave about it without nailing down exactly what you're gonna do you jump in and know that the experience is what you want and the result is gonna be whatever it's gonna be. So it's a huge risk to take," Stewart said.

Critics have heralded Stewart's performance in the film.

When asked how it felt to have some positive acclaim again, the actress simply responded: "Of course, yeah."

Assayas wasn't sure how Stewart was going to work out, but once they started shooting, he was sure he made the right choice.

"It's so incredibly courageous of her. She's the one who's making the big step. I write the spot, which is really tailored for her in many ways, so I ask her to be part of my film," Assayas said.

The film is currently on the festival circuit and will be released in the United States sometime in 2015.

KRISTEN STEWART HAS THREE FILMS AT NEW YORK FILM FESTIVAL; ADMITS SHE'S A WORKAHOLIC

Kristen Stewart admits she's a workaholic after bringing three films to the New York Film Festival.

"Oh yeah, I'm totally addicted man," said the actress from the red carpet Wednesday (5 OCT. 2016).

"Like I'm a crazy, compulsive, like I get super obsessed with stuff, you know, which is to a fault but it's served me well."

Stewart was the guest of honor at a dinner thrown by the Lincoln Center Film Society.

Before going inside, she also commented on her intensity, the type of director she hopes to become and reinventing herself after "Twilight."

For the latter, she claims it wasn't intentional.

"Oh, honestly, it was not like a tactical approach," said Stewart.

"I've really always known that if I have a certain dynamic with someone or a conversation, it's either leading to productivity or not. I definitely thank you for that question because it implies that I've like by chance seemingly designed a career I totally got lucky to have."

Since the "Twilight" franchise, the actress has quietly amassed an impressive body of work, including a trio of very different films at this year's festival.

She already premiered "Certain Women," directed by Kelly Reichardt, earlier this week. The festival will screen the upcoming "Personal Shopper." And Stewart will walk the red carpet again for Ang Lee's "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" next week.

Besides acting, Stewart aspires to become a director too.

Working with Lee and Reichardt gave her unique perspective, especially since the two take a completely different approach to directing a film.

"It's weird. I think I fall somewhere in between wanting to be really surgical and technical and in control of absolutely everything but at the same time I'm wanting to see something live and breathe and I think they both do that completely differently, but they both accomplish the same thing," Stewart said.

"I think they are both absolute geniuses when it comes to being composed and when it comes to being aware of something that we're not aware of. They see the invisible and they capture it and that's what I would like to do while making movies."

Reichardt shot "Certain Women" on 16mm film, working around the limitations of that to create a visually poetic story surrounding three women whose lives intersect in Montana.

Ang Lee worked the opposite end of the field, shooting war drama, "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk," using high-frame rate digital capture.

Stewart admits she leans toward Reichardt's style, suggesting it was motivational, making her want to start directing right away.

"Seeing Kelly steel train her way through a movie that seems so natural but is so deliberate, I love her. So yeah, it makes me want to work now, like start working," Stewart said.

"Certain Women" will be at select U.S. theaters from 14 October 2016, while "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk" kicks off on November 11.

"Personal Shopper" isn't in theaters until next year.

It was a glamorous red carpet Monday (3 OCT. 2016), as Michelle Williams, Kristen Stewart and Laura Dern arrived for the New York Film Festival premiere of "Certain Women."

The film - from writer-director Kelly Reichardt - tells a trio of stories of intersecting lives in Montana.

It's based on short stories by Maile Meloy.

Stewart, who plays a high school teacher in the film, loves how the story depicts "the normal lives of women."

"It's not very typical for people to focus on the normal lives of women. It's always movies about exceptional, hero women that overcome great adversity to do a thing. And it's like, no, these are three women sort of doing very mundane but like really engaging, tiresome, really topical, current things. And that usually is not focused on," Stewart said.

"The only way that that can be focused on is if you make it interesting and Kelly's perspective makes it interesting. And you can look at any of her previous work, every woman that's been written into her movies are, you know - she doesn't do archetype movies. There are powerful woman stories now, but they're usually pretty standardized and she's sort of the opposite of that, so I'm so proud to be a part of it."

Reichardt went "old school" when it came to shooting the film, choosing to capture it on 16MM film stock. Stewart explained how that impacted her performance.

"The time constraints are kind of something. You can't just roll and find it," Stewart said.

"But that's like a pretty typically American indie-style thing and her vibe is different. She's very composed. She's not like, 'Oh, we'll just take it off sticks and throw it on his shoulder and we're going to dance around and you can say whatever you want.' She's like, 'No, no. You're going to say the lines and I'm going to compose my shot. We're going to shoot a scene.' Yeah, so I think that's pretty special."

Dern also embraced being captured on film again.

"It's amazing. I hope to, you know, be around film more and more. I love all of it in its own unique way, but I love film very much, so... We just need labs. We need labs and hopefully many more filmmakers will continue to explore with film," Dern said.

As for Williams, she's no stranger when it comes to working with Reichardt, having starred in her previous films, "Meeks Cutoff" and "Wendy and Lucy."

"Working with my old pal Kelly Reichardt, it's our third movie together, so whatever she asks, the answer is always yes," Williams said.

"And then when I was there, I discovered these great actors that I got to work with."

Woody Allen continues to stay with his blistering pace of pushing out a movie a year. His latest entry, "Cafe Society" features Kristen Stewart and Blake Lively.

Set in the late 1930's, the film shifts from the Golden Age of Hollywood to New York's nightclub life. Stewart who plays the part-time love interest of Jesse Eisenberg's character was impressed on the perfection that went into the clothes and sets.

"It was fun on an aesthetic level because everyone who works on Woody's movies are incredibly detail-oriented; the costumes were perfect, you know, they were exquisitely built. On a surface level, it was shiny and fun. I think the time period serviced the story perfectly," Stewart said.

Stewart loves the modern spin on period life that her character Vonnie takes on.

"In the late 1930s it would not necessarily be OK for a young woman to not feel some shame or guilt surrounding somewhat unconventional relationships. If she can actually look back on her life and consider the hypotheticals and value them and not feel like she made mistakes. I thought that was super modern and something that inserted into the late 1930s was like, 'Whoa, she's interesting to me," Stewart said.

Lively also plays a character named Vonnie, though she's first introduced as Veronica.

"Doing a period film with Woody Allen and Vittorio and the way that they tell the story is so beautiful. But also, Woody, music is so intrinsic to he does, and 1930s music specifically. So to do a movie that takes place right in his wheelhouse of rhythm is actually really neat," Lively said.

She said part of the charm is how comfortable Allen made her feel.

"There is a level of confidence that comes too because he knows what he's doing, he has it down pat. He's not going to go through the motions with you, so you feel taken care of. You feel like you're going to be in a good movie," Lively said.

KENDALL JENNER STUNS AT CANNES; KRISTEN STEWART SHARES RED CARPET WITH PALME D'OR NOMINEE '120 BEATS PER MINUTE'

Kendall Jenner stunned on the red carpet in a billowing white dress Saturday (20 MAY 2017) at the Cannes Film Festival as she followed Kristen Stewart and the cast of Palme d'Or nominee "120 Beats Per Minute" up the famous steps of the Palais des Festivals.

Stewart – who seemed more reluctant to pose for the world's press photographers - was premiering her directorial debut, a short film called "Come Swim," starring Josh Kaye.

Showing as part of the 70th anniversary celebrations at the Festival, the tale uses both impressionistic and realist portraits to make up a diptych of one man's day.

She was followed by director Robin Campillo and the cast of his Palme d'Or nominated drama, "120 Beats Per Minute," for its official festival premiere.

Set in the early 1990s, the French AIDS drama has quickly joined the shortlist of favorites to win the coveted award.

One of its stars, Nahuel Perez Biscayart, was also singled out for his moving performance as an HIV-positive young man who is drawn to action.

Co-star Arnaud Valois plays a newcomer to the activist group, who falls for him.

The film's docu-drama retelling of that painful period, combined with a burgeoning spirit of unity for the gay community, earned it some of the best reviews of the festival thus far. Vanity Fair called the film "a vital new gay classic."

Campillo, himself, was an ACT UP militant activist in the '90s and had long wanted to turn his experience — one of both tragedy and inspiration — into a film.

The movie's ensemble cast also includes "Les Combattants" actress Adele Haenel .

Campillo, the co-screenwriter of the Palme d'Or-winning film, "The Class," makes his directorial debut in the competition

His 2004 film "They Came Back" was adapted into the hit French and US TV series, "The Returned" ("Les Revenants").

The 42-year-old Oscar nominee said the key to balancing a busy Hollywood career with raising a family is accepting the occasional fail.

"You've got to be OK to drop some balls. That's the thing about juggling, you can't keep all the balls in the air all the time. So I just try to be forgiving of myself and allow for some leeway for mistakes. And really communication for me is the key with my family, with my child, making sure everyone is OK and everyone feels heard and sort of paid attention to, including myself. So I communicate with myself and make sure I'm doing OK and you know try not to get too caught up in anything," said Adams.

Adams was honored Monday (24 Oct.) at the 23rd annual Elle Women in Hollywood Awards.

Fellow honorees Kathy Bates, Felicity Jones, Anna Kendrick, Aja Naomi King, Helen Mirren, Lupita Nyong'o and Kristen Stewart were also on hand for the celebration. Each are featured on their own individual cover of the magazine's November issue.

Academy Award winner Nyong'o acknowledged Hollywood's gender disparities and hoped the celebration would help unite women.

"I think there's still a lot of room for more women to be in all aspects of the entertainment industry. This is a night when we celebrate our achievements, but in that celebration we recognize there's still a long road to travel and it's about lifting each other up and coming together to ensure that more work can be done for women, by women and about women," Nyong'o said.

Stewart, who recently premiered "Certain Women" and has two upcoming films, noted that she's been extremely lucky with opportunities.

"It's difficult to speak to in not a sort of like abstract way, which is kind of maybe why it's been somewhat difficult to change because for me, I've been so lucky. I've had a million opportunities and I'm like overtly stimulated and sort of driven right now. But at the same time, I guess you know, how do you change something that's hard to speak to? Like dynamic and how people perceive you and the way that you need to present yourself versus like put upon conventions and things that you actually feel. And I think that's something that women struggle with constantly. It's getting easier though. Like nights like this are really important for that," she said.

Adams preferred to focus on the positive.

"I mean of course there is still work to be done. But as I said before, I tend to focus on the positive and there's so many women that have such a strong and unique voice and I just really hope we can continue to not focus on the problems, but focus on the solutions and have these women speak up and let's start working to change," said Adams.

Mirren discussed the importance of the annual event, which recognizes women for their accomplishments in the entertainment industry.

"You know for the longest time I didn't believe in corralling women off into their own little area, but I've really come to realize that that's not true," said Mirren. "Actually you do need to organize, you do you need to proselytize and you need to be political because without that really nothing happens. So I applaud this. I love it. I think it's very, very important, but I look forward to the time where it's no longer necessary."

Attendee and former "Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev has faced discrimination in Hollywood and said it's crucial to speak up about it.

"There's a lot of work to be done, but I feel like we have come a long way. But yes, I've had some personal experiences that I'm not going to talk about right now. But most recently, I've had some experiences where women oftentimes are not seen or treated equally to their male counterparts and you have to put your feet down for what you believe and it will pay off," she said.

"The Birth of a Nation Star" Aja Naomi King was blown away by the caliber of her fellow honorees and said she hasn't paid attention to the disappointing box office numbers for Nate Parker's embattled slavery drama.

"I don't really pay attention that much to like numbers. I only know TV numbers. Like I understand ratings. But I'm feeling really great about the reception. The number of people that I've had these wonderful conversations with about how they've been impacted by it and just the conversations they've had because of the film. And that was the entire point, open up the dialogue to educate people and people of been so touched by the filmmaking. It's lovely to be acknowledged for the work that you've done and being able to be on the receiving end of that on social media or just like me bumping into people in person and them being like, 'oh my God, it's you!' You know it's like I'm really touched. Also for people to see that I can do other things than be Michaela Pratt on 'How to Get Away with Murder,'" she said.

'PULP' ON 'CLOUDS'

Quentin Tarantino and the stars of "Pulp Fiction" walked the red carpet in Cannes on Friday night (23 MAY 2014) for the premiere of "Clouds of Sils Maria."

The acclaimed American director is at the festival this year to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his cult classic, which won the festival's top prize in 1994.

They were joined at the event by French director Olivier Assayas and his "Sils Maria" cast, which includes Kristen Stewart, Juliette Binoche, and Chloe Grace Moretz.

Assayas' latest offering is showing in competition at this year's festival which draws to a close on Sunday.

Tarantino will also be helping to close the 67th edition of the festival with a tribute to Sergio Leone.

The filmmaker will present a restored version of Leone's "A Fistful of Dollars" (1964) at the May 24 closing ceremony.

Usually, the Palme d'Or winner is screened at the Cannes closing ceremony, but this year's schedule has been tweaked because of European elections.

The Palme d'Or winner will be shown Sunday (25 MAY 2014) instead.

MOSCHINO BETS ON CASINO CHIC WITH VEGAS-THEMED RUNWAY SHOW

Moschino's modern showgirl can't leave home without her sequin denim, studded platforms or feather headdress, naturally.

Designer Jeremy Scott looked to the iconic performer for his splashy Las Vegas-themed resort collection presented Thursday (9 JUNE 2017) in Los Angeles.

"It's a bit of a road trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas," said Scott before the show. "I was thinking about all those kind of archetypes, that Americana, that kind of route 66 and the dusty gas stations and the hot rods and pinup girls and Playboy playmates and kind of this kind of vibe that kind of unites us between this highway. And so I was thinking about that and thinking about, yeah, Americana and maybe a little bit about, in a way, we are having Americana slip from us in a lot of people's hearts because of the administration and people feel like it's being jeopardized. So maybe it became more urgent to me to show my love to my country that I love so much and kind of some of the pop culture that I love about it."

Models Miranda Kerr, Hailey Baldwin and Stella Maxwell (who was spotted backstage with Kristen Stewart) strutted the catwalk lined with bright neon signs to slot machine sound effects and Elvis' "Viva Las Vegas."

"Jeremy is just a creative man. He's passionate about what he does and he follows, you know, the rhythm to his own drum and I love that," said Kerr before hitting the runway in a denim patchwork skirt suit.

There was Playboy bunnies, barely-there shorts and colorful, pointy cowboy hats.

Betty Boop and pinup girl appliques adorned sweaters and coats, hot rod flames decorated leotards and blazers and sequins ran wild on everything from pastel suiting to men's Speedos.

"I love Vegas. Vegas is great for a hot three days. I have got the Vegas buffets down. So next time you go, give me a call. I've been to all of them," said model Ashley Graham, who sat front row.

Scott, who took aim at President Donald Trump during his February show in New York, decided to let politics take a backseat to positivity.

"You know, I think also I realize that it is very important for me to keep bringing joy and light and happiness and a reprise from the negativity that is a constant onslaught in the news, in the media. And you know so much about what's going on and it's depressing and it's overwhelming. So I think more now than ever I do realize it's important for me to always bring cheer and happiness and joy even if I still can sneak a message in there," he said.

Moschino's celebrity casino-goers included Fergie, Diplo, Sarah Hyland, Joe Jonas, Vanessa Hudgens, Charli XCX, "Black-ish" actress Tracee Ellis Ross, reality star Erika Jayne, Kate Beckinsale, Courtney Love and Lars Ulrich of Metallica.

According to Fergie, the collection hit the jackpot.

KRISTEN STEWART BRINGS GUANTANAMO BAY FILM TO SUNDANCE

Sorry, "Twilight" fans, Kristen Stewart is not sticking with young adult fare as her acting career continues in the wake of the blockbuster franchise that launched her career.

"Camp X-Ray," Stewart's new film that had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival Friday (17 JAN. 2014), tells the story of a young woman who joins the Army and ends up as a guard at Guantanamo Bay, the notorious U.S. prison in Cuba where some of the most dangerous terrorist suspects are detained.

Stewart admitted the role terrified her at first.

"That's the desirable struggle. If I'm not afraid of something, it's probably not worth doing for me," she said. "In this case I just thought it was a really -- I hadn't worked in like two years, hadn't found anything that really got me going -- and I just thought that this story of a young girl who is sort of so pragmatic and logical and practical, like you know, very self-assured based on things that she can grasp -- and so if she can control every situation and join the Army and be a good person and, you know, fill all these responsibilities that she's been brought up to fulfill, and yet still sort of feel like she's not doing the right thing, because Guantanamo it's like this slightly greyer area -- and so she's not getting as much back from what she thought she was putting into it -- and so I thought that that was an interesting struggle."

The 23-year-old actress traveled to Guantanamo Bay in preparation for the part and said what struck her most was the order.

"I think my idea of what it was like down there was not correct. It is clean. I know that sounds ridiculous and very ignorant, but it's really, it's like clinical, you know what I mean?" she said. "Standard operation procedure is like the bible. And to have such like set guidelines for something like that is, for somebody who really wants to follow the rules and do the right thing, when they're kind of confusing -- like they should be the most straightforward thing ever -- you know my character, and this is very individual to this project, I'm not making any grand statements about anything, but you know my character definitely goes through a process of questioning whether or not she's doing the right thing, but she's following the rules."

Stewart didn't get very personal on the red carpet at Sundance, but did say she finds it difficult to watch her work on the screen.

"I watch, literally, like with a fine-toothed comb," she said. "Like, it's the most, it's sort of deathly uncomfortable, but it completes the process. It's a necessary. And it's awesome. It just makes me a little nauseous."

'TWILIGHT' TRIO GETS CEMENTED

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner have walked red carpets to screaming fans, sold out movies and become household names since first appearing in the "Twilight" film franchise but they agree the most exciting experience they've had so far is getting immortalized in cement.

The trio had their own hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles Thursday (3 NOV. 2011.)

"This is the coolest thing I've ever done in my life," said Stewart.

"There are a few moments that mean so much it's really even hard to explain and this is definitely one of those," added Lautner.

"This is an incredible honor and how young we are it's kind of ridiculous and amazing at the same time," observed Pattinson.

Stephenie Meyer, the author of the "Twilight" books was also on hand for the event.

"The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1" hits theaters 18 November.

Fans will have to wait just under a year for the final film, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2," which is scheduled for a 16 November, 2012 release date.

KRISTEN STEWART RE-EMERGES ON TORONTO RED CARPET

"Twilight's" newest vampire re-emerged in public Thursday night at the Toronto Film Festival.

Kristen Stewart made her first public appearance in nearly two months.

After publicly apologizing for having a tryst with the married director of her last film, "Snow White and the Huntsman," the 22-year star went into lockdown mode.

Hundreds of fans eagerly awaited her return as she walked the red carpet for her latest film, "On the Road," based on the classic Jack Kerouac novel.

Stewart posed for photographers, spoke to a few television crews (while paired with co-star Garret Hedlund, and signed lots of autographs for fans. Many of them had waited since the early morning.

Dressed in a slinky, floral Zuhair Murad dress, Stewart held her head high but showed signs of nervousness.

Several times she broke away from the press line to pose for pictures with fans behind the barricade.

At times, it seemed that the fans were providing the support Stewart needed to carry on through mobbed press event.

Stewart says she likes the idea of books being made into movies, and that "On the Road" is one of her favorite books.

"Yeah, specifically to this case there were untapped resources that we were allowed to sort of be privy too. Being somebody that has loved the book their whole life, I think to be allowed to know the information that we knew and be able to bring it to life in a way that was connected to the people and not just the book and the fiction of it. It happened. It wasn't just a novel. I think it pays homage to all of that, and it feels good," she said.

But did she ever think she would act in the big screen version back when she first read it?

"I was so young when I read the book, there wasn't a second's thought that I would ever play this part, so when it came about I drove away from my meeting with Walter absolutely vibrating, shaking, so yeah," Stewart said.

Back in July Stewart admitted to having an affair with 41-year old director Rupert Sanders. That announcement had a rippling effect, putting her romantic relationship with "Twilight" co-star Robert Pattinson on definite hold.

When asked how she was doing, Stewart responded: "I'm doing fine." Then she walked away.

FINAL 'TWILIGHT' PREMIERE FOR PATTINSON, STEWART

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were greeted by hundreds of screaming fans at the final "Twilight" film's premiere.

Fans had camped in a tent city outside the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles for five days for the opportunity to see the stars of "Breaking Dawn, Part 2" at the premiere Monday (12 November 2012).

Pattinson wore a green Gucci suit and Stewart a strapless nude Zuhair Murad dress for the occasion, which they marked with remembrances and appreciation for the vampires-and-werewolves series' die-hard fans.

"I mean what other movie has this premiere about 20 times for the same movie. It's crazy. I don't think I'm ever going to experience this again," Pattinson said.

Stewart said she expected that fans will find a way to keep "Twilight" alive even after the final film.

"I mean, they would be nutcases if they suddenly didn't care about those characters in a year's time," she said. "I carry every character I've ever played with me. And in this case, I had Bella for five years, so that's made an enormous mark."

Stewart said she's unlikely to do a movie with as many viewers ever again.

The 22-year-old former child actress also had praise for 12-year-old Mackenzie Foy, who plays her daughter Renesmee in the film.

And that's really rare," Stewart said. "That doesn't happen. She was very young. I was close to her age as well when I started, so I could totally feel her on that."

Taylor Lautner, who plays the werewolf Jacob, said he'd remain friends with both of his lead co-stars.

"And that's an absolute miracle. We got along so well. But just because of the time spent, Rob and Kristen are some of my closest friends. And that's huge," Lautner said.

He agrees with Stewart that fans will find a way to continue "Twilight."

"They'll never give up on this. Even though the movies are finished, there's so many things still left. And our fans are unreal. So this will live on forever," he said.

The real-life relationship between Pattinson and Stewart has been the subject of much media attention, bringing an edge to even questions about their on-screen roles as parents of Renesmee.

Michael Sheen said he was impressed by the actors' ability to survive the media spotlight.

"For you to be in the eye of that storm when you're still very, very young -- I don't know how they've managed to weather it like they have," Sheen said. "The fact that they've got through it and they're here still today, is amazing. So I'm sure they'll sigh a big sigh of relief to be able to move on."

And Elizabeth Reaser called the two actors "saints" for their professionalism and manners.

"I've known them from the very beginning. And I've seen everything around us get very insane and everything around them get crazy. And I've watched Kristen just become a woman and I really admired how she's handled it," Reaser said.

Also in attendance at the premiere: Rocker Stevie Nicks and other franchise stars including Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed and Ashley Greene.

"Breaking Dawn, Part 2" is in theatres on 16 November.
