The Malaysian Prime Minister said on Thursday that it would be impossible to bring home the bodies of the Malaysian victims of the crashed Malaysia Airlines plane before the end of the month of Ramadan.

Najib Razak made his comments during a visit to the Dutch Ambassador's residence in Kuala Lumpur.

After signing a book of condolence at the residence, Razak stated that the body identification process and the forensic works could take weeks, or even months.

The first flight with body remains arrived on Dutch soil on Wednesday.

Razak also said he was angry that investigators still did not have full access to the crash site.

While the Dutch Ambassador Harry Molenaar said that after the bodies were returned home, they would like to see justice.

Russia's Ambassador to Malaysia said on Tuesday that experts had confirmed that the black boxes of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 that crashed in eastern Ukraine "were not tampered with."

Lyudmila Vorobyeva said that Russia was not playing "the blame game," as claimed by some Western countries.

On Monday pro-Moscow separatists released a train packed with bodies of the plane crash victims and handed over the black boxes from the downed Malaysia Airlines plane, four days after it got shot down.

With body parts decaying in sweltering heat and signs that evidence at the crash site was mishandled, anger in Western capitals has mounted at the rebels and their allies in Moscow.

The bodies of the 298 victims, most from the Netherlands, have become a part of the conflict in Ukraine because they could hold evidence of what brought the plane down on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

Malaysia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anifah Aman, left for Ukraine early on Monday, to discuss the issues surrounding the downed Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 with senior Ukrainian officials.

Aman, who was leading a government delegation left at 00:30 a.m. local time (1630 GMT on Sunday).

He is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to discuss access to the crash site and the recovery of the bodies of the victims.

International monitors say armed rebels have limited their access to the crash site and Ukrainian officials said armed rebels took 192 bodies away from their workers by force Sunday.

Aman will head to Istanbul and transit to Kiev.

He refused to answer questions from the media but said he would update reporters after his discussions.

Flight MH17 was shot down in eastern Ukraine on Thursday, leaving 298 dead.

The Boeing 777 was flying from Amsterdam to the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur when it was shot down, killing all 298 passengers and crew.

The leader of the pro-Russian rebels has agreed to hand over both black boxes from Flight MH 17 to Malaysian investigators who are in Ukraine, Malaysia's prime minister said early Tuesday.

Prime Minister Najib Razak also said that as part of an agreement he reached by phone with rebel leader Alexander Borodai on Monday evening, independent international investigators will be given "safe access" to the site where the Malaysia Airlines jet went down in eastern Ukraine en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, killing all 298 people onboard.

Najib said that as part of the agreement, the black boxes would be handed over to the Malaysian team in Donetsk at 9 p.m. Monday Ukraine time (1800 GMT Monday).

Meanwhile, the remains of 282 of the crash victims were being moved by train from the eastern Ukrainian city of Torez to Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, Najib said.

From there, they will be flown to Amsterdam on a Dutch C130 Hercules military plane and handed over to Dutch authorities.

"I must stress that although an agreement has been reached, there remain a number of steps required before it is completed," Najib said at a hastily arranged news conference at his residence just after midnight Monday.

"There is work still to be done, work which relies on continued communication in good faith."

The Boeing 777 crashed in rebel-held territory, and the separatists are being blamed for shooting it down by much of the international community, including the United States.

Najib said that following any necessary forensic work, the remains of the 43 Malaysian citizens who were aboard the plane would be flown to their home country.

Anger and resentment toward the Russian-backed rebels and Moscow have been escalating worldwide, including in Malaysia, where there have been calls for economic sanctions against Russia.

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman on Friday updated reporters on the latest on repatriating the bodies of those killed in the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 incident.

"All four refrigerators with bodies of innocent victims have been unloaded. And information from 6pm (3pm GMT) is that experts already processed 378 packages with remains of innocent victims," he said.

Hundreds of people rallied against Russian President Vladimir Putin in Brisbane on Saturday, while the G20 summit was underway.

Some of those who took to the streets were Ukrainians living in Australia, who demanded the international community impose sanctions on the Russian leader.

Some protesters accused Putin of being responsible for the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 plane in eastern Ukraine on 17 July, when 298 people died, including 38 Australian citizens and residents.

Australian and Dutch diplomats joined forces to promote a plan for a UN team to secure the crash scene of Malaysia Airlines flight 17, which has been controlled by pro-Russian seperatists.

Floral tributes were being laid outside Schiphol Airport on Tuesday in memory of those killed when Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine last week.

Visitors to the airport took time to look at the display that is growing by the day.

298 people died when the jetliner was brought down over rebel-held territory as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

Of the 298 who died, 193 were Dutch citizens.

Among those paying their respects to the victims on Tuesday was a group of air cadets.

One of the cadets, Tim de Boer said he hoped the passengers' bodies would be returned home soon.

On Monday pro-Moscow separatists released a train packed with bodies of the plane crash victims and handed over the black boxes from the downed Malaysia Airlines plane, four days after it was shot down.

In Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday, hundreds of people protested outside both the Russian and Ukrainian embassies to demand justice for the victims.

Singing the Malaysian national anthem, protesters waved banners and called on the authorities to catch whoever was responsible for downing the passenger jet.

The rally was organised by the youth wing of the UMNO, Malaysia's largest political party.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Russian ambassador to Malaysia, Lyudmila Vorobyeva, reiterated that Russia had nothing to do with the plane crash and pointed the finger at Ukraine.

Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai on Sunday met a group of experts from his country who travelled to Kiev to participate in the joint international investigation into the cause of the Malaysia Airlines plane crash.

Speaking after the meeting in the Ukraine capital, the minister said it was "imperative" to resolve the issue of access to the crash site and the remains of the victims, and to ensure the safety of the investigative team.

Rebels in eastern Ukraine on Sunday took control of the bodies recovered from downed Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 and refused to give international investigators full access to the crash site.

An international court on Monday ordered Russia to pay over 50 billion US dollars in compensation to the former majority shareholder of now-defunct oil producer Yukos over the expropriation of the company more than 10 years ago.

In one of the largest arbitration cases ever, a subsidiary for GML Limited, once the biggest shareholder in the Yukos Oil Company, had sought 103.5 billion US dollars from Russia.

The Russian government under President Vladimir Putin in 2003 levelled massive tax claims against Yukos, then Russia's largest oil company owned by the country's richest man Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Russia imprisoned Khodorkovsky and seized the company's assets when they couldn't pay.

The move was widely seen as retaliation for Khodorkovsky's support for opposition political parties.

Russia said it was merely seeking payment for back taxes and penalties that Yukos evaded in the period 2000-2003.

Yukos shareholders received no compensation for that.

Monday's ruling adds to tensions between Russia and the international community at a time when relations are at their lowest ebb since the end of the Cold War.

Following the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over eastern Ukraine, the US and European Union are debating further economic sanctions against Moscow because of its support for rebels suspected of launching the attack.

The timing of the arbitral tribunal's decision has fuelled suspicion among both analysts and ordinary Russian citizens that the ruling was political.

In Moscow on Monday, one man described the decision as "sanctions against Russia (that have) nothing to do with economics".

"It is proved by the fact that this is happening at the same time as the pressure on Russia is growing," he added.

Meanwhile, economics analyst Valery Mironov, of the National Research University Higher School of Economics, claimed there were no legal grounds for the Yukos shareholders' claims because Russia was not a signatory to the Energy Charter Treaty.

Russia signed but did not ratify the Energy Charter Treaty, which is used in dispute resolution procedures such as arbitration - including the Yukos case.

"Today we saw a one-sided approach, one that is not in favour of Russia," Mironov added.

Reflecting on the timing of the decision, Mironov said that "from a financial point of view they unexpectedly double the financial weight that has been put on Russia at the time of this geopolitical conflict."

An international court on Monday ordered Russia to pay over 50 billion US dollars in compensation to the former majority shareholder of now-defunct oil producer Yukos over the expropriation of the company more than 10 years ago.

In one of the largest arbitration cases ever, a subsidiary for GML Limited, once the biggest shareholder in the Yukos Oil Company, had sought 103.5 billion US dollars from Russia.

The Russian government under President Vladimir Putin in 2003 levelled massive tax claims against Yukos, then Russia's largest oil company owned by the country's richest man Mikhail Khodorkovsky.

Russia imprisoned Khodorkovsky and seized the company's assets when they couldn't pay.

The move was widely seen as retaliation for Khodorkovsky's support for opposition political parties.

Russia says it was merely seeking payment for back taxes and penalties that Yukos evaded in the period 2000-2003.

Yukos shareholders received no compensation for that.

GML, formerly Group Menetap Limited, said the Permanent Court of Arbitration's ruling found Russia had sought to bankrupt Yukos and appropriate its assets and that it was determined to do whatever was necessary to achieve this purpose.

GML's executive director, Tim Osborne, said at a news conference in London that the decision showed Russia's campaign against Yukos had been "politically motivated".

Emmanuel Gaillard, one of GML's lawyers, said that "today is a great day for the rule of law".

"A superpower like Russia has been unanimously held accountable for its violation of international law by an independent arbitral tribunal of the highest possible repute," he said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, commenting earlier on Monday, said Russia will be appealing against the ruling.

"Authorities who are representing Russia in this trial will use all possible legal means to defend their position," Lavrov said.

The ruling adds to tensions between Russia and the international community at a time when relations are at their lowest ebb since the end of the Cold War.

Following the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 over eastern Ukraine, the US and European Union are debating further economic sanctions against Moscow because of its support for rebels suspected of launching the attack.

Khodorkovsky spent ten years in prison before he was pardoned by Putin in December last year.

He has said he is not party to the case and is not interested in its outcome.

Two more planes departed Kharkiv airport on Friday with a further 74 coffins containing bodies and remains from the Malaysian Airways MH17 crash in eastern Ukraine.

One Dutch Hercules C-130 plane and an Australian Boeing C17 cargo plane departed after Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop and her Dutch counterpart Frans Timmermans spoke to the crews of the two planes.

"We have a very clear idea of what caused the crash. But there is more evidence on the site that will obviously add to the jigsaw of what occurred on the 17th of July," Bishop said.

"We are determined to find who was responsible for this act and find out who was responsible for the circumstances that gave rise to it," she added.

Australia is planning on sending dozens of police officers to the crash site near Donetsk in eastern Ukraine.

All 298 people aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 were killed when the plane went down on 17 July.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday dismissed US claims that rockets have been fired from Russia into eastern Ukraine.

During a televised news conference, Lavrov asked "why it took ten days" before the US released satellite images backing up its claims.

A four-page document released by the State Department appears to show blast marks from where rockets were launched and craters where they landed.

Officials said the images, sourced from the US Director of National Intelligence, show heavy weapons fired between July 21 and July 26 - after the July 17 downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17.

The images could not be independently verified by The Associated Press.

Lavrov also said he is expecting OSCE (Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe) observers to arrive at the Russian-Ukrainian border "in the coming days."

He said accusations that rebels are travelling freely into Ukraine from Russia are false and the OSCE would see that.

Ukrainian officials have said the mission is largely pointless because it involves only about two dozen observers monitoring the 2,000 kilometre (1,240-mile) border between the two countries.

Lavrov also added that Russia was "not happy" with the latest round of sanctions imposed on it by the European Union.

He was optimistic though that the sanctions would help Russia become more "more self-reliant and more self-confident."

Ukraine will again push for a UN tribunal on the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 once the final report on the incident is released in two months, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister said on Thursday.

Pavlo Klimkin told Associated Press that Ukraine has the support of the international community.

His statement came one day after Russia vetoed a UN Security Council resolution that would set up an international criminal court to prosecute those responsible for shooting down MH17 over Ukraine a year ago.

Klimkin went on to say that Ukraine has to be "effective and successful" in the separatist war which rages in the east of the country, while conceding that it is not a war the Ukrainian government can win militarily.

Rebels shot down a Ukrainian MIG-29 aircraft as it flew over the Enakievo region on Thursday, Ukrainian authorities said on Friday.

"The pilot did all he could to lead the falling plane away from residential areas and afterwards catapulted," said Ukrainian security spokesman Andriy Lysenko.

"He is alive, now the search operation continues," Lysenko added.

Lysenko claimed that the rebels had also violated international laws by opening fire on a helicopter which was transporting their wounded men.

"According to all international law shooting at such kind of helicopters is forbidden. They are marked with special signs which are impossible to miss. The crew had to make a forced emergency landing," he said.

Lysenko said that three people injured in that incident were receiving treatment.

The insurgency in mostly Russian-speaking in eastern Ukraine flared up in April following Moscow's annexation of Crimea in response to the ouster of Ukraine's former pro-Russian president.

Ukraine and Western countries have accused Moscow of backing the mutiny with weapons and soldiers.

The West also accused Russia of most likely providing the insurgents with surface-to-air missiles that may have been used to shoot down a Malaysia Airlines passenger jet over rebel-held territory on July 17, killing all 298 people on board.

The Russian government has repeatedly denied all those charges.

US Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said on Thursday that the US is "cooperating intensively" with the Netherlands with regard to the investigation into the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17.

Friday marks one year since the Boeing 777 was blown out of the sky over war-ravaged eastern Ukraine killing 298 people, and there has been little official word of progress in determining who or what was responsible.

Nuland was speaking on a visit to the Ukrainian capital Kiev where earlier in the day she watched as the nation's parliament made the first step toward devolving more powers to separatist-controlled areas in eastern Ukraine by sending the bill on constitutional reform for review at the country's highest court.

Officials at the Dutch Embassy in Washington said they have seen an outpouring of support from the community following the shooting down of Malaysian Airlines flight MH-17.

Outside the gated campus, dozens of bouquets, cards and stuffed animals have been placed by the public as a memorial to the nearly 200 Dutch citizens who were killed in the crash.

"There's been an outpouring of support towards the Netherlands by email, by telephone calls, by people who have spoken to us in all kinds of ways, so we appreciate that we thank the American people for doing that," said Peter Mollema, Deputy Chief of Mission of the Dutch Embassy in the United States.

Inside the embassy, visitors have filled books with letters of condolence to the Dutch people.

Ambassadors from other embassies in Washington visited Monday to pay their respects.

The jet was shot down in the rebel-controlled area of eastern Ukraine while travelling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, killing all 298 people onboard.

Dutch Foreign Minster Frans Timmermans on Tuesday said tough new economic sanctions adopted by the European Union (EU) against Russia would send a "strong signal" to Moscow.

The new sanctions follow frustration amongst the international community over the apparent ineffectiveness of previous sanctions and outrage over the downing of a Malaysia Airlines over eastern Ukraine.

The plane crashed earlier this month, killing all 298 passengers and crew, most of them Dutch citizens.

"I think that, slowly, Moscow will get the message that they are heading in the wrong direction. The consequence is that Russia choose to isolated itself. And that's not positive for Russia," Timmermans told Dutch a parliamentary committee.

Europe, which has a much bigger trade relationship with Russia than the US, had lagged behind Washington in its earlier punitive measures, in part out of concern from leaders that the penalties could hurt their own economies.

But on Monday, in a rare video conferencing call with US President Barack Obama, the leaders of Britain, Germany, Italy and France expressed their willingness to adopt new sanctions against Russia in coordination with the US, an official French statement said.
