Palestine speak ahead of their World Cup qualifier in Jordan against Saudi Arabia on Sunday (8th November).

The teams played in Jeddah in June in the first of their two scheduled Asia zone World Cup qualifiers, with the Saudis winning 3-2.

The match in Amman was originally supposed to be played in Palestine, but Saudi Arabia had refused to travel to the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Palestine and Saudi Arabia prepare for WC qualifier in Jordan

Palestine and Saudi Arabia prepared in the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Sunday (November 8) for Monday's World Cup qualifying match.

The teams played in Jeddah in June in the first of their two scheduled Asia zone World Cup qualifiers, with the Saudis winning 3-2.

That match was originally supposed to be played in Palestine, but Saudi Arabia had refused to travel to the Israeli-occupied West Bank, citing undefined "exceptional circumstances".

The return leg was then set for October 13, again in the West Bank, but Saudi Arabia on September 23 demanded that it be played at a neutral ground.

That demand was accepted by the FIFA World Cup organising committee, but the Palestinian federation refused to accept the decision, saying it set a "dangerous precedent."

However, last Thursday, Palestine's football association said it had reluctantly agreed to play the match - and another qualifier against Malaysia later in the week - in Jordan.

As his team prepare for 2015's AFC Asian Cup, Jordan head coach Ray Wilkins spoke in Amman on Sunday (5 October) ahead of two friendlies against Kuwait.

Jordan head coach Ray Wilkins oversaw a training session in Amman on Sunday (5 October) as they ready themselves for two friendly matches against a visiting Kuwait side.

Wilkins was officially presented as the new head coach of Jordan in September.

He had previously worked as assistant manager at Chelsea and most recently at Fulham during the short-lived spell of former manager Rene Meulensteen.

Having qualified for the 2015 AFC Asia Cup in Australia, Jordan were drawn in Group D alongside Japan, Iraq and Palestine.

After securing their place at the tournament, Wilkins' team played two matches in September, losing 2-0 away to Uzbekistan before drawing 1-1 with China.

Wilkins said that he believed Jordan have a chance to win the title in Australia, despite being drawn into a "difficult group" - but only after a lot of hard work.

He also spoke about his experience in Jordan so far, his relationship with the players, and the decision to sideline goalkeeper Amer Shafi, as well as the challenges of playing the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ray Wilkins was officially presented as the new head coach of Jordan on Wednesday (17th September).

Wilkins a former England, Chelsea, Manchester United, QPR and Rangers player, will have former Arsenal, Manchester United and Republic of Ireland international Frank Stapleton as his number two.

His first match in charge will be against Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on October 11th.

Wilkins will also lead Jordan into the AFC Asian Cup in Australia, they are in Group D alongside Japan, Iraq and Palestine

Jordan played two matches in September, they lost 2-0 away against Uzbekistan on September 4th and drew 1-1 with China on September 9th and are 56th in the current FIFA World Rankings.
